For the past seven years, Dead By Daylight has dominated the market for asymmetrical multiplayer games. In this game, a team of four survivors battles against one killer. Although Dead By Daylight may seem simple at first glance, it actually has a complex gameplay with numerous perks, characters, and maps to learn. Despite various competitors like Evil Dead, Friday the 13th, and Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed emerging in recent years, none have been able to dethrone Dead By Daylight. However, this could potentially change soon.
On August 18, Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be released and it has generated considerable excitement. As another asymmetrical horror multiplayer game, Texas Chain Saw Massacre distinguishes itself from Dead By Daylight in several ways. Based on recent reviews, these differences make the game a highly anticipated one to watch, especially for fans seeking a fresh yet familiar experience.
How Texas Chain Saw Massacre Is Separating Itself From Dead By Daylight
In Dead By Daylight, the number of killers is significantly different compared to Texas Chain Saw Massacre. In Dead By Daylight, there is only one all-powerful killer who faces off against four survivors. However, in Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a team of four survivors goes up against a team of three killers. This leads to a different balance of teams between the two games.
In Texas Chain Saw Massacre, each of the five killers has their own unique ability, as well as strengths and weaknesses. Effective communication among the killer teammates is essential in order to make the most of these abilities. Without proper coordination, the survivors can easily gain an advantage. For example, The Cook has the ability called Seek, which allows him to listen through walls and pinpoint survivor locations. Although this ability is useful on its own, it becomes exceptionally powerful when combined with Leatherface's Maim ability, which inflicts severe injury on the targeted survivor. The Family, as a whole, must also collaborate to gather blood from their victims and deliver it to Grandpa. This in turn helps them locate the survivors more easily.
Much like Dead By Daylight, the survivors in Texas Chain Saw Massacre must utilize teamwork in order to succeed. However, unlike Dead By Daylight, the survivors possess powerful abilities of their own. Each survivor in Texas Chain Saw Massacre has a unique active ability, such as the ability to shoulder charge into a killer to briefly stun them or to pick locks at an accelerated pace. While Dead By Daylight's survivors receive perks that provide buffs and bonuses, the active abilities of Texas Chain Saw Massacre's survivors involve more direct player involvement.
A significant distinction between Dead By Daylight and Texas Chain Saw Massacre is the latter's diverse range of escape options. In Dead By Daylight, survivors can only escape as a group by activating a series of generators and exiting through one of the two main gates on the map's periphery. Conversely, each map in Texas Chain Saw Massacre offers a minimum of four different escape routes for the survivors. Beginning in the basement, the survivors must navigate their way to an exit, each of which presents unique obstacles and challenges, such as deactivated electrified fences or locked doors. This abundance of escape options is intended to enhance the replay value of Texas Chain Saw Massacre and distinguish it from Dead By Daylight.
Dead by Daylight is currently available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
