Can Sam, Golden Boy’s brother, potentially pose a challenge to Homelander in The Boys? Can he surpass the star-spangled villain's strength and defeat him?
That being said, certain supes have come quite close. In season 3 of Herogasm, there was a climactic brawl involving Soldier Boy, Butcher, and Hughie, where they were able to overpower Homelander. They were very close to neutralizing him using Soldier Boy's radioactive blast, but he mustered up his final bit of strength and shot up into the sky.
The supes in Generation V may be young and lack experience, but they are already posing a significant threat to Homelander, especially Sam, who could possibly be one of the most powerful heroes in the franchise so far.
The Boys fans debate if Gen V’s Sam could beat Homelander
Sam’s powers may be simpler than Golden Boy’s extravagant flame-on abilities, but this is the salient fact: as per Doctor Cardosa, Sam is vastly stronger than Luke.
Considering Professor Brinkerhoff's belief that Golden Boy had the potential to surpass Homelander, and the fact that both brothers endured intense experiments to enhance their strength (or transfer Sam's to Luke), it leads to a thrilling query: Can Sam become the superhero capable of defeating Homelander?
We are aware that he has proven his ability to handle multiple superheroes simultaneously (although they are all students, so he has yet to face an opponent on the level of Black Noir). Additionally, he possesses the capability to leap great distances similar to Queen Maeve.
On Reddit, a user put forth the argument that, while it may not be evident currently, there is a possibility that he could eventually stand a chance. The user highlights the fact that there is much about Sam that remains unknown. The reference to Golden Boy being "not even close" seems significant given the extensive praise surrounding him.
"I have a feeling that Sam possesses an even greater range of abilities than we initially thought. There's a theory circulating that he might be The Boys' equivalent of Legion, and if that's the case, he could definitely reach Homelander's level of power," another person speculated.
Jordan Li has been praised by others for their invulnerability in their male form. One person wrote, "It seems like Jordan's male power is invulnerability, or perhaps the male form absorbs energy and the female form releases it in those blasts. But it's clear that they are more durable than the average supe and currently the strongest person at the school, so it makes sense that they are putting up a fight." Another commenter added, "I believe Jordan is extremely durable, but they will eventually be defeated by Homelander. Some might argue that Jordan has the same level of durability as Homelander and Soldier Boy, but we still don't have all the information. Hopefully, we will get some answers soon."
