The Ultimate Ranking of Baldur's Gate 3 Wizard Subclasses: Uncover the Most Powerful Paths!

Baldur's Gate 3 offers a diverse range of Wizard Subclasses, each specializing in one of eight schools of magic These subclasses grant potent advantages that align with their respective schools: Evocation, Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Necromancy, Transmutation, and Illusion

In Baldur's Gate 3, all classes available to players possess a range of abilities and capabilities for exploring the world and engaging in combat. Additionally, each class has the option to choose a subclass, which grants abilities specific to that subclass, making the character unique among others of the same class. In the case of the Wizard class, these subclasses are referred to as "Schools," and players can select one for each of the eight schools of magic.

In Baldur's Gate 3, Wizards have the opportunity to specialize in any of the eight schools of magic: Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Necromancy, Illusion, and Transmutation. Each subclass choice grants the Wizard abilities that align with their chosen school of magic, as well as bonuses when using spells from that school. This gives players the freedom to focus on the spell schools they want to excel in with their character, particularly when adding new spells to their spellbook from scrolls.

School of Evocation

The School of Evocation bestows upon a Wizard two unique abilities called "Evocation Savant" and "Sculpt Spells" when they reach the second level. The former reduces the expense of transcribing evocation spells into their spellbook from 50gp to 25gp per spell level, while the latter enables them to safeguard their allies from the detrimental impacts of their Evocation spells.

School of Abjuration

At second level, wizards who choose the School of Abjuration gain access to two unique abilities: "Abjuration Savant" and "Arcane Ward". With the former, these wizards can scribe Abjuration Spells into their spellbook at a reduced cost of 25gp per spell level, instead of the usual 50gp per spell level. The latter ability, "Arcane Ward", provides the wizard with a protective shield of 3HP every time they cast an Abjuration spell of level 1 or higher.

School of Conjuration

The Conjuration school is not accessible in the Early Access Build of the game; however, it is anticipated that they will attain "Conjuration Savant" and "Minor Conjuration" upon reaching second level. This will decrease their expenses for scribing and enable them to instantly summon insignificant non-magical objects into their grasp.

School of Divination

In the Early Access Build of the game, players won't have access to the Divination School. However, once they unlock it, they can expect to gain two key abilities at second level: "Divination Savant" and "Portent." These abilities will lower the cost of scribing spells and grant the ability to roll two D20 dice after a long rest. Players can then use those results to replace any D20 roll within range between the long rest and the next short rest. This can only be done once per turn and each roll can only be used once.

School of Enchantment

In the Early Access Build of the game, the Enchantment School is currently unavailable. However, it is expected that at second level, Enchanters will gain the abilities "Enchantment Savant" and "Hypnotic Gaze." These powers will not only lower their costs for creating magical writings but also enable them to charm a creature if it fails to resist their Wizard Spell DC (limited to once per creature and per long rest).

School of Necromancy

The School of Necromancy is currently not accessible in the Early Access Build of the game. However, it is expected that once available, players will be granted the abilities "Necromancy Savant" and "Grim Harvest". These abilities will enable them to reduce their scribing costs by half and recover health points whenever they defeat a creature using spells of spell level 1 or higher.

School of Transmutation

The School of Transmutation is not accessible in the Early Access Build of the game, yet players from this school will likely obtain the abilities "Transmutation Savant" and "Minor Alchemy." These abilities will decrease the costs of scribing for them and enable them to convert ordinary materials into other ordinary materials.

School of Illusion

The School of Illusion is not accessible in the Early Access Build of the game. However, it is expected that players will have access to the abilities "Illusion Savant" and "Improved Minor Illusion," which will reduce their scribing costs by half and grant them an additional cantrip at no cost, while also enhancing its effectiveness.

Baldur's Gate 3 will be released on August 3rd, 2023 for PC and Mac, and on September 6th, 2023 for PS5.
