Highlights
Animal Crossing: New Horizons introduced new NPCs alongside familiar characters, making it hard to determine who is "better" among them.
Isabelle, Flick, Celeste, Kicks, and Brewster stand out in the highest category (S-Tier) due to their captivating charm and unparalleled enthusiasm for their projects. On the other hand, characters in the lower tiers (B-Tier, C-Tier, and D-Tier) may be perceived as less desirable due to their troublesome personalities, unremarkable roles, or certain traits such as Redd's fraudulent activities or Franklin's provision of animal meat.
Nintendo's popular life simulation game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, received immense popularity upon its release in 2020. Over the years, the game has received various updates and patches, although recently, new content for Animal Crossing has been scarce. Nevertheless, the game successfully introduced new non-playable characters (NPCs) while also featuring familiar faces.
With a plethora of beloved personalities in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it can be challenging to determine who stands out as the "best." However, certain characters are deemed as obvious choices for top ranks due to their high recognizability.
S-Tier
Isabelle
Flick
Celeste
Kicks
Brewster
Arguably, the S-Tier list could include more characters. However, there is no doubt that these five furry friends deserve to be in the highest category. Take Isabelle, for example, who has been a fundamental part of the franchise since 2013. Moreover, Flick, despite his recent introduction in New Horizons, quickly became a beloved NPC within the community because of his distinct outlook on life and passion for bugs. Similarly, Celeste, Kicks, and Brewster have all demonstrated adorable levels of enthusiasm for their respective projects, making them equally charming.
A-Tier
Wisp
Daisy Mae
Tom Nook
Mabel
K.K. Slider
Being ranked in the A-Tier is a remarkable achievement, and all those who have reached this level should be proud. Each of these Animal Crossing NPCs is an iconic character in the series and deserves recognition. Wisp initially appeared in City Folk, but has since made multiple appearances in New Leaf and New Horizons. His round and chubby figure, as well as his amusing fear of ghosts, make him adored by many. K.K. Slider and Tom Nook are also considered A-Tier personalities due to their high level of recognition. Daisy Mae and Mabel, on the other hand, radiate wholesomeness wherever they go.
B-Tier
Label
Blathers
Reese and Cyrus
Timmy and Tommy
C-Tier
Although these six NPCs may be considered A-Tier by some, there are community members who find conversing with them to be bothersome. It is not uncommon for players to skip dialogue from Label, Blathers, Timmy, or Tommy. The wedding event featuring Reese and Cyrus in New Horizons was initially very popular, but the excitement surrounding the married alpacas has waned.
Redd
Gulliver
Leif
Harvey
Defending the characters in C-Tier proves challenging, given their stingy or deceptive personalities and strange appearances. Redd is notorious for scamming players with counterfeit art, while Gulliver inexplicably keeps misplacing his communicator parts. Although Harvey and Leif may not fully deserve their placement in C-Tier, their limited involvement in New Horizons prohibits them from ascending to a higher rank.
D-Tier
Gullivarrr
Franklin
Luna
Although the lowest tier only offers three characters, each of them possesses a compelling justification for their presence. Gullivarrr, despite being Gulliver disguised as a pirate, manages to surpass his original counterpart in terms of annoyance due to his extensive knowledge of seafaring lingo. Franklin, the esteemed chef on Turkey Day, raises eyebrows with his willingness to serve villagers meat from animals. Lastly, Luna, who aids with Dream Codes, possesses an oddly human-like physique for a tapir.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now on Nintendo Switch.
