Eric Stonestreet, Will Ferrell, and Matthew McConaughey are among the many who take their support for their alma mater in college football to the next level each season. In March 2023, Stonestreet fully embraced his Wildcat spirit by joining the marching band of Kansas State University during the team's spring game, and he shared a video of the experience on social media.
Ferrell and McConaughey, both alumni of the University of Southern California and the University of Texas at Austin respectively, share equal enthusiasm for their alma mater's college football programs. Their competitive spirit was evident when USC played against Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl, with the actors engaging in a pregame face-off.
During their interaction, McConaughey confidently predicted that his Longhorns would secure their first national title in 35 years. Ferrell quickly responded, playfully saying, "Hold on a second there, cowboy! While it may have been a while since you've experienced this, for USC fans, it's our third consecutive national title game."
The actor from Anchorman jokingly stated, "I'm not exactly sure about the specific percentage—I don't have the numbers with me—but I'd wager it's quite impressive. 'What's that? 100 percent'—wow, that's fantastic!" (Texas defeated the Trojans.)
