Jackson: Epilogue

In the game's gripping conclusion, Joel receives shocking news: the Fireflies possess the ability to remove Ellie's infection and create a cure for humanity. However, the cost is her life. Having formed a deep bond with Ellie throughout the game's story, Joel is unwilling to leave the hospital without a fight. While he is sacrificing the opportunity to save all of humanity, he prioritizes saving the one thing that means the most to him.

The last two chapters of The Last of Us Part 1 provide a profound and satisfying resolution to the game's exceptional storyline, while also delivering thrilling combat to keep players engaged. The first of these chapters, "The Firefly Lab", showcases Joel's intense battle against the Fireflies in the game's climactic moment. Although short, the epilogue chapter, "Jackson", has a few surprises up its sleeve as it leads up to the iconic and widely-discussed ending of The Last of Us Part 1.

The Firefly Lab: The Hospital

The Firefly Lab chapter will mainly involve combat, with little else. It starts right after the cutscene, where two Firefly soldiers are seen searching the hallway. You should climb through the nearby window and patiently wait for the two soldiers to walk down the hallway.

After examining the deceased soldier, whom Joel had eliminated in the cutscene, the group will divide in order to locate Joel. One soldier will conduct a search in Joel's room while the others branch out to scour the surrounding area. Regardless of the chosen approach, it is crucial to silently eliminate each of them once they have separated.

Go back and hide. Another soldier will come over and find the bodies. Wait for him to walk by to kill him.

He’ll drop the last weapon to collect in the game: the assault rifle.

Another soldier will come by searching for the bodies; kill him. Leave the room and go down the hallway. Hide behind cover as more men will come searching.

Two individuals will be assigned to protect the distant left corner of the room while another pair will thoroughly examine the right side. Initially, neutralize the two individuals engaged in the search operation. When they draw near Joel, discreetly toss a brick or bottle in a direction away from them.

When they have their backs to Joel, sneak up on the one closest and silently kill him. Then sneak up and silently kill his partner.

Go and conceal yourself behind the corner of the diminutive room situated on the left side. Expect two soldiers to be stationed near the forthcoming exit. Swiftly hurl a nail bomb in their general direction to efficaciously eliminate both adversaries simultaneously.

Once they're dead, go to the exit in the far-right corner, with the "West Wing" sign hanging above.

In the hallway, hide behind the hospital bed in the middle of the hallway. Three soldiers will run by; wait for them to pass, then continue forward.

Content: In the adjacent room, brace yourself for a soldier who will forcefully enter through the entrance doors. Swiftly approach and engage in combat, then utilize the triangle button to proceed through the doors and access the stairwell.

Ascend the stairs and utilize the triangle button to unlock the door. Following this, expect a lull in combat for a brief period. Utilize this opportunity to replenish your supplies and create any essential tools. Additionally, keep an eye out for various collectibles in this area. Positioned on the desk in front of Joel, you will find an artifact.

To the left of the stairway will be a small room with another artifact inside.

The door behind the reception desk can be unlocked with a shiv. Inside will be supplies and a firefly pendant.

Exit the room. In the next room, search through the tents for supplies and another artifact.

Then, go up to the window at the far end of the room, where Joel will see soldiers preparing in the next room.

In the next hallway, soldiers will be guarded. Throw a smoke bomb in front of the doorway and sneak past.

To the immediate right of the hallway lies an open door, offering access to a series of compact side rooms. These spaces provide ample opportunities for seeking shelter, be it for executing clandestine maneuvers or engaging in combat. As this marks the ultimate confrontation within the game, feel free to unleash your full potential without hesitation.

When everyone is killed, go to the main hallway and walk through the door labeled “Pediatrics”.

In the next hallway, go through the door on the right. Inside will be an artifact.

Go back into the hallway and walk down through the red door. This will lead to the operation room, where doctors are operating on Ellie.

Go into the room. One of the doctors will try to stop Joel. Kill him.

Approach Ellie and press the triangle button to lift her up. This moment marks the emotional peak of the entire game, but it may also bring some confusion regarding the next course of action. Once you exit the operating room, swiftly pivot and enter the adjoining room on your right.

After running down a linear path for a little while, Joel will come to a dead end with two Firefly soldiers looking for him. Go through the locker room on the right.

At this point, run straight into the open elevator at the end to conclude the Firefly Lab chapter.

Jackson: Epilogue

Following the cutscene, a brief epilogue awaits players, allowing them to momentarily assume the role of Ellie as she and Joel make their way back to Jackson after their arduous expedition. Upon gaining control of Ellie, Joel will then proceed to raise the nearby fence. Approach it and press the X button to navigate through.

Follow Joel for a little bit, then turn right. At the edge of the cliff on the right will be an abandoned truck with a comic inside.

Follow Joel as he navigates through the forest. Soon, he will ascend a small ledge and extend his hand to assist Ellie. Press the X button to grab hold of Joel's hand, which will initiate the final cutscene and bring the game to a close.
