Hades, developed by Supergiant Games, has earned a reputation as one of the top independent games of recent years. Anticipation for the game was high prior to its official release due to its engaging roguelike gameplay and extensive range of options. Now, with ample time to explore its meta, players have come to realize the critical importance of building Zagreus' character. This involves selecting the right Infernal Arm, which serves as the foundation for the character's combat abilities in the game. Despite the vast array of available options, players can only choose one Infernal Arm per run. Zagreus' Infernal Arms possess unique designs and combat styles, ensuring that Hades remains fresh and engaging. While some weapons are more popular than others, all six of the available options can be effective in the hands of a skilled player.
S Tier
The Adamant Rail, also known as Exagryph, is often overlooked by many players due to its initial form. However, with the addition of Hades' Weapon Aspects, this weapon can transform into a formidable Infernal Arm. What sets the Adamant Rail apart is its versatility, as it offers three distinct Aspects that cater to various playstyles.
One of the most unique Aspects is Hades' Aspect of Lucifer, which completely changes the way the weapon is used. Despite its average power, players can utilize a set of rare Daedalus Hammers to enhance Lucifer and unlock its full potential. This makes the Adamant Rail a force to be reckoned with.
A Tier
Coronacht, the Heart-Seeking Bow, boasts a formidable set of Aspects that make it a force to be reckoned with in Hades. With the Aspect of Chiron providing excellent tracking and the Zagreus Aspect proving to be just as effective, the bow is a strong contender in the ranged weapon category, rivaling even the rail.
On the other hand, while Aegis, the Shield of Chaos, may have some lackluster Aspects, its Zeus Aspect is so overwhelmingly powerful that it's often considered the best weapon in the game by many players. However, the other Aspects of the Aegis Shield don't quite measure up to the same level, preventing it from dominating the list of top weapons.
B Tier
The Varatha, or Eternal Spear, is a formidable weapon thanks to its impressive range and devastating spin attack. While it may not be the most exciting option without its Aspect of Achilles, when paired with the right Hades' Best Boons, it becomes a top-tier choice among the Infernal Arms.
Despite their short range and the inherent risk they pose to players, the Twin Fists of Malphon can still pack a punch with powerful Aspects such as that of Demeter. However, the high stakes of a roguelike game can make it difficult to justify choosing these fists over other weapons.
C Tier
The Stygian Blade, also known as Stygius, serves as Zagreus' default weapon in Hades. Despite having a lackluster stock Aspect, it can easily be overshadowed by other weapons. However, it does have some redeeming Aspects such as Poseidon and Nemesis. That being said, the controversial Hades Aspect of Arthur may not be everyone's cup of tea due to its slower speed despite dealing high damage. Hades is currently available on various platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
