The cast of Good Omens season 2 consists of familiar and fresh faces, expanding upon Neil Gaiman's original story. The Amazon Prime series, based on the novel by Gaiman and Pratchett, follows the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley as they navigate life on Earth as representatives of heaven and hell. Despite their unlikely friendship, their peaceful existence is threatened by an impending apocalypse. In order to safeguard their lives, Aziraphale and Crowley join forces to prevent the arrival of the antichrist.
Although the events of the book were already portrayed in season 1, the tremendous success of the show prompted the demand for a second installment. Fortunately, the fans' wishes were granted, and Good Omens season 2 will debut on July 28th, 2023. With a completely new storyline, the cast of season 2 had to be expanded. Some actors from season 1 were given different roles, while others were replaced, and a few remained in their original characters.
Michael Sheen As Aziraphale
Michael Sheen reprises his role as Aziraphale in the second season of Good Omens, after originally playing the character in the first season. Born in Newport, Wales, Sheen made his debut in the TV miniseries Mystery!: Gallowglass in 1993. He gained recognition through his role as the Lycan Lucian in the popular Underworld franchise, which makes his casting as an angel quite unconventional given his tendency to portray supernatural characters with villainous traits. In season 2, Aziraphale will be concealing the angel Gabriel, who arrives on Earth with no memory, from both heaven and hell.
Apart from his work in the Underworld franchise, Michael Sheen is widely acclaimed for his performances in various roles. He is particularly known for his portrayal of the British talk-show host David Frost in Frost/Nixon, the pompous Paul in Midnight in Paris, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair in The Queen, and sex researcher Dr. William Masters in Masters of Sex. Additionally, some may recognize him for his portrayal of Aro, a member of the Volturi, in the Twilight franchise. Sheen has recently lent his voice to the character Paul in another project by Neil Gaiman, The Sandman, and starred as himself alongside his Good Omens co-star David Tennant in the show Staged. Audiences can anticipate seeing him in upcoming projects such as The Price of Admission and Heart of Darkness.
David Tennant As Crowley
David Tennant has joined the cast of Good Omens season 2 as Crowley, the series' second main protagonist. Born in West Lothian, Scotland, Tennant began his career by playing Neil McDonald in an episode of Dramarama in 1988. He gained significant recognition for his role as DI Peter Carlisle in the acclaimed miniseries Blackpool, as well as his portrayal of Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. In Good Omens season 2, Crowley will assist Aziraphale in hiding Gabriel, and trailers reveal that he manages to pass through the pearly gates with Muriel at some point.
Tennant is most notably recognized for his portrayal of the beloved 14th iteration of the Doctor in the long-running series Doctor Who, before passing on the role to Jodie Whittaker. He also gained prominence for playing the villainous Kilgrave in Jessica Jones, DI Alec Hardy in Broadchurch, and Peter Vincent, a Las Vegas magician/vampire expert, in the Fright Night remake. Recently, Tennant starred as himself in Staged alongside Michael Sheen, and he portrayed Alexander Litvinenko in the historical drama Litvinenko. Tennant has several upcoming projects in the works, including Rivals, High Stakes, and Ahsoka, among others.
Jon Hamm As Gabriel
Jon Hamm, hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, reprises his role as Gabriel in season 2 of Good Omens. This time, however, Gabriel returns to Earth with no recollection of his past. Hamm made his television debut back in 1997, portraying an attractive man in a bar on the show Ally McBeal. While he had a prominent role in The Division, it was his portrayal of Don Draper in Mad Men that truly launched his career. Hamm's versatility shines as he often takes on carefree yet shallow and somewhat dim characters, making his casting as Gabriel a fitting choice.
Recognized for his role as Annie's unscrupulous friend-with-benefits, Ted, in Bridesmaids, Jon Hamm has left an indelible mark on various projects. He portrayed sports agent JB in Million Dollar Arm, FBI Agent Adam Frawley in the gripping crime thriller The Town, and the amiable Bob Callahan in the heartwarming comedy Tag. Hamm has also made appearances in notable TV shows like Black Mirror, 30 Rock, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. More recently, he captivated audiences as Beau "Cyclone" Simpson in Top Gun: Maverick, portrayed Roy in the television adaptation of Fargo, and played police chief Sanders in the comedic crime series Maggie Moore(s). His upcoming projects include lending his voice to Sentinel Prime in Transformers One, assuming the role of Coach Carr in Mean Girls Musical, and making a cameo appearance as Paul Marks in The Morning Show.

In the Good Omens season 2 cast, Doon Mackichan takes on the role of the archangel Michael. Originally from London, England, Mackichan first gained recognition in 1986 through her versatile performances on the show Five Alive. However, it was her breakthrough on the comedy sketch show Smack the Pony that makes her portrayal of Michael all the more unexpected. Typically known for her comedic roles, Mackichan often collaborates with acclaimed actor Steve Coogan. Yet, as Michael, she adopts a completely contrasting persona as a cold, calculated, manipulative supporter of heaven, unwavering in her determination regardless of the consequences. It can be assumed that Michael will relentlessly pursue Gabriel in the upcoming season of Good Omens.
Mackichan's notable performances include her portrayal of Flavia in the historical comedy series Plebs, her diverse characters on the comedy sketch "news" show The Day Today, and her comedic roles on the sketch show The Glam Metal Detectives. Uriel serves as an associate of Michael and stands out as a more composed figure among the other archangels. Originally from London, England, Obianyo gained recognition for her portrayal of Lady Trelaw in The Grinning Man. While her previous credits are limited, Good Omens provides her with an opportunity to showcase her talents as the steadfast but occasionally severe archangel Uriel. Obianyo is most notable for her performance as a female Fremen in Dune: Part One, as well as her role as the pregnant prisoner Elektra in the sci-fi film High Life alongside Robert Pattinson. She has also portrayed Neoptolemus in National Theatre Live: Paradise. Aside from her impressive work in Good Omens, Maggie Service is widely known for her role as Kerry, the floor manager in the miniseries Quiz, as well as her appearances as Barker in an episode of the sci-fi series Red Dwarf and Elsie in an episode of Doctor Who. More recently, she made an appearance as an Amazon Employee in an episode of The Hillywood Show, played the character Sarah in an installment of Life, and portrayed Nurse Jones in the miniseries The Remote Read.

Born in London, England, Sosanya began her acting career with a role as Linda in an episode of The Bill. Her breakthrough came with the character Annie in Love, Actually, and she has since portrayed a range of roles. Given her versatility in portraying various characters, it is no surprise that Sosanya tackles different roles in Good Omens. In the upcoming season, she portrays a coffee shop owner whose store is located near Aziraphale's in Soho.
Sosanya gained recognition for her portrayal of Colly Trent in Five Days, Sasha in the miniseries Nathan Barley, and Elaine Parry in His Dark Materials. With her diverse range of previous characters, it remains uncertain what unique energy Carr will bring to the role of Saraqael, but undoubtedly, it will be exceptional. It can be presumed that Saraqael, along with Uriel and Michael, will be in search of Gabriel. Additionally, Carr has portrayed notable characters such as Clarissa Mullery in Silent Witness, Dr. Marlow Rhodes in The OA, and the concierge in the Les Misérables miniseries. Her recent credits include appearances as Fenn in The Witcher, Liz in the TV movie Then Barbara Met Alan, and Tina in an episode of This is Going to Hurt.

Although Sepulveda has limited experience, she aims to bring a vibrant and uplifting energy to the character of Muriel, who also seems to grapple with some anxiety in her current circumstances.
In one particular scene, Muriel accompanies Crowley beyond the celestial gates and into heaven, a situation that greatly disturbs her. Apart from her appearance in Good Omens season 2, Sepulveda is recognized for her roles in Havoc and for portraying Vicki in two episodes of The Man Who Fell to Earth. She also played the character Shona in the short film The Other End.
Shelley Conn As Beelzebub
Shelley Conn, known for her roles in Love Sarah, Terra Nova, and The Irregulars, has joined the cast of Good Omens season 2 as Beelzebub, taking over from Anna Maxwell Martin. With her versatile acting skills, Conn is sure to bring the same level of wickedness that Martin portrayed as the Prince of Hell.
