Patch 6.45 of Final Fantasy 14 brought forth an array of exciting additions, one of which includes numerous new spells for the distinctive Blue Mage (BLU) job. Unlike other jobs, the Blue Mage obtains spells by conquering specific enemies and encounters scattered throughout the game's world. This feature bears resemblance to esteemed Blue Mage characters from previous Final Fantasy installments, such as Quina Quen and Kimahri Ronso.
With the introduction of 20 fresh spells in this patch, the Blue Mage now possesses an impressive arsenal of 124 distinct spells, with the ability to equip 24 at any given time. These spells are predominantly utilized for completing exclusive solo combat duties called the Masked Carnivale, specifically designed for Blue Mages. In this guide, players will gain insight on how Blue Mages can acquire Rehydration, a potent new healing spell in Final Fantasy 14.
How to Learn Rehydration in Final Fantasy XIV
In Final Fantasy's Patch 6.45, a new healing spell called Rehydration has been introduced for Blue Mages. This spell, rated one-star, enables the Blue Mage to restore their own HP with a Cure Potency of 600. It is the 108th spell out of a total of 124 spells on the Blue Mage list. To unlock this spell, Blue Mages must defeat a specific enemy found in the overworld. Learning the Rehydration spell is essential for Blue Mages to advance in the new job quests introduced in Patch 6.45.
To learn the Rehydration spell, players must defeat a new enemy known as Slippery Armadillo. These Beastkin monsters can be encountered in Amh Araeng, a vast desert zone located in Norvrandt, which was introduced in FFXIV's Shadowbringers expansion. After completing the level 75 quest "Gridania's Most Wanted," players will need to acquire this spell in order to progress to the next quest in the series.
Where to Find Slippery Armadillo
To easily reach the Qasr Sharl area in Ahm Araeng, where the Slippery Armadillo can be found, players can teleport to the Mord Souq Aetheryte. From there, head directly northwest across the River of Sand. About halfway through this area, just before reaching The Red Seral, players can spot multiple Slippery Armadillos at coordinates (X: 32.8, Y: 9.1, Z: 0.5).
Slippery Armadillos are aggressive enemies at level 70, so lower-level Blue Mages may want to consider teaming up with friends to take down one of these foes if necessary. With the release of Patch 6.45, the Blue Mage's maximum level has been increased to 80, making it easier for players at this level cap to defeat these enemies and learn the skill "Rehydration."
To acquire a spell as a Blue Mage, it is crucial that the targeted enemy successfully executes the spell prior to their defeat. To guarantee mastery of the spell, players must exercise patience and allow the Slippery Armadillo to cast Rehydration at least once before vanquishing the creature.
Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
