Highlights

Fallout 4 breaks tradition by featuring seven Vaults, the most in any individual Fallout game so far, with an allegedly cut eighth Vault.

The Vaults in the Fallout series are infamous for their gruesome experiments, but there are some instances where the inhabitants resisted Vault-Tec's plans.

To uncover valuable information and loot, players are encouraged to delve into the well-known Vaults in Fallout 4, including Vault 75, which aimed to exploit human genetics, and Vault 81, which has developed a flourishing community.

Instead of the usual six Vaults found in previous games, Fallout 4 breaks tradition by featuring seven Vaults that players can explore. This is the highest number of Vaults seen in any Fallout game to date. Furthermore, there were plans for an eighth Vault in Fallout 4, although it was eventually cut from the final release.

In the Fallout franchise, Vaults are notorious for their unsettling Vault-Tec experiments, although there are a few exceptions. While some Vaults served as control groups, others have had their inhabitants defy or outlast the intended purposes of their experiments. Regardless, players are advised to explore the iconic Vaults throughout the Fallout franchise in order to uncover valuable information and loot, particularly in Fallout 4's numerous Vaults.

Every Vault in Fallout 4

Vault 75 is located in the Northeast quadrant of the map, specifically in the basement of Malden Middle School. Similar to Vault 111, this Vault was used as an unsettling experiment to gather human genetic material. The fate of the remaining inhabitants of Vault 75 remains a subject of ongoing speculation and discussion within the community.

Vault 81: Located west of Diamond City, just beyond the Chestnut Hillock Reservoir, Vault 81 stands out as one of the most wholesome and honorable Vaults in the Fallout franchise. Unlike other Vaults, the occupants of this Vault refused to be part of Vault-Tec's experiments and instead transformed it into a thriving community. Although the original dwellers are no longer present, players can still recruit Curie, a Miss Nanny model robot created by the original Vault residents, as a companion in Fallout 4.

Vault 88: Situated in the southeast area of Fallout 4's wasteland, Vault 88 requires the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC. Players are assigned the task of constructing this Vault from the ground up, with no room for any sinister experiments on the dwellers.

Vault 95 is situated on the Edge of the Glowing Sea in Fallout 4. The Vault's original experiment led to the demise of the majority of its inhabitants. Later, gunners invaded the Vault, killing the remaining survivors and taking control due to the allure of chems.

Vault 111 serves as the starting point for most players in Fallout 4, unless they are utilizing mods to alter their game experience. Nestled on the Northwest side of Sanctuary, this Vault holds significant importance to the game's main story. However, it lacks substantial rewards for thorough exploration.

Vault 114: Located in the Park Street Station metro of the Boston Common area, Vault 114 is integral to detective Nick Valentine’s questline. Within this vault, players will confront the gangsters who have recently made it their home.

Vault 118: To access this vault, players must have the Far Harbor DLC, as it is situated beneath the Cliff’s Edge Hotel on the island where this expansion unfolds. Although the original inhabitants are no longer present, players can delve into a humorous murder mystery involving the vault's robotic residents.

Vault 120 was initially intended to include underwater exploration elements in Fallout 4. Data miners and the modding community have revealed that this Vault might have featured submarine combat, architecture inspired by Bioshock's Rapture City, an encounter with a massive mutant octopus, and other intriguing aspects. However, despite these exciting possibilities, the franchise has yet to dive into the depths of underwater exploration. If you're interested, Fallout 4 can be played on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
