In Immortals of Aveum, the narrative follows Jak, a formidable wielder of magic, as he elects to join the Everwar, a long-standing conflict between factions vying for magical supremacy. Incorporating first-person shooter elements, the game primarily revolves around precise aiming and shooting, although the versatile magic system prompts players to explore alternative strategies for dispatching Jak's adversaries.
As players progress through Immortals of Aveum, Jak will gradually unlock various magical abilities that can be utilized during combat encounters. At the onset of the game, he will be inundated with a plethora of new powers, which can initially present a challenge for players to adapt to due to the rapid acquisition. One such ability gained by Jak early on in Immortals of Aveum is called Shred, which, although requiring some acclimation, proves highly effective when confronting defensive foes.
What Does Shred Do?
In Immortals of Aveum's third chapter, Jak will gain access to the Shred ability. Once obtained, players can utilize this ability to effortlessly penetrate enemy-summoned shields.
It is quite common for nearby enemies to take refuge behind the shield that their comrades have summoned during combat. Dealing with such large groups can be particularly challenging. However, the Shred ability can effectively balance the scales when executed properly, making it a valuable asset.
How To Use Shred In Immortals Of Aveum
In order to penetrate an enemy's shields using the Shred ability, players must first identify the enemy's Defense Spell. Next, they should align Jak's magic color with the Defense Spell and commence attacking the shield using one of Jak's Sigils. Shields with a blue Defense Spell can be broken using Blue Sigil Magic, green Defense Spells require Green Sigil Magic, and red Defense Spells can be shattered with Red Sigil Magic. As Jak's Sigil attacks inflict damage on the targeted shield, it will eventually break, revealing the enemies who were positioned behind it.
While it is possible to break an enemy's shield even by utilizing magic of the wrong color, this approach will take significantly longer as Jak's damage output will not be as effective as it would be with the appropriate Sigil magic. Alternatively, players can bypass the need to break enemy shields by maneuvering around the shield and directly engaging with the enemies. However, this method exposes Jak to potential attacks and should only be employed if players feel confident in their safety.
Immortals of Aveum is available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
