Leland, the character in Texas Chain Saw Massacre, stands out with his remarkable toughness, athletic physique, and stylish 70s hairstyle. These unique attributes not only contribute to his cool appearance during his attempts to flee or when facing his untimely demise, but also give him an advantage in combat situations. Although most victims would strive to avoid any confrontation with the Family at all costs, there are inevitable times when conflicts cannot be evaded. It is precisely in these moments that Leland shines.
However, due to his lower proficiency and stealth levels, Leland assumes a more specialized and supportive role. His ability to escape is comparatively weaker than that of other victims. Nonetheless, Leland excels in tasks like accessing crawlspaces, deactivating generators, and incapacitating the Family members. By doing so, he provides invaluable assistance to his teammates by buying them crucial time to unlock doors and make progress towards their escape.
Skill Tree
When it comes to constructing Leland's skill tree in Texas Chain Saw Massacre, players should prioritize the branch that veers slightly to the left of the center of the tree. Begin by moving in the left direction towards the No Sell perk, then take a right turn at the second division to gain access to Choose Fight. Proceed with another right turn at the subsequent division, which will unlock Full Hearts, followed by a quick left turn to acquire the Radar Detector. Ultimately, players should opt to go right at the last division in order to unlock Agitator.
Perks
Agitator
Radar Detector
No Sell
Leland benefits greatly from perks that can enhance the entire team, rather than just himself. One such perk is Agitator, which significantly weakens the Family bond and makes it easier for Leland to incapacitate Grandpa. This is crucial when facing skilled Family players who are adept at tracking and feeding Grandpa, as allowing him to reach maximum level will spell doom for the victims.
Another perk that is highly advantageous for Leland, especially when playing with a coordinated party, is Radar Detector. While other victims can also access this perk, it is particularly useful for Leland as he is usually responsible for spotting lock picking experts. By briefly revealing the locations of Family members, Leland can relay valuable information to his teammates, guiding them on whether to advance or hide.
Attributes
In terms of the final advantage, it is advisable for players to opt for a defensive bonus. The "No Sell" option stands out as one of the most powerful choices for those who embrace the support play style, significantly reducing the damage inflicted by the initial few attacks. This grants Leland the opportunity to divert attention from the Family, thus allowing teammates to unlock essential doors and gates at a minimized cost to their overall health.
+27 Stealth
Although he has limited combat skills, the primary objective for victims is to successfully flee the premises. By allocating all attribute points to stealth, Leland gains the ability to hide and move silently just like the rest of the victims, while still retaining his inherent strength. Moreover, since Leland players should rely on their teammates to deal with locks, investing points in proficiency would be unproductive. Instead, maximizing stealth grants Leland the freedom to break free from restraints and explore the map effortlessly, thanks to the substantially reduced noise level.
Ability Modifiers
Level 1: Increased Stun Duration
Level 2: Restore Stamina
Level 3: Faster Recharge
Starting with Increased Stun Duration, Leland gains a significant advantage with a ten-second stun. Although ineffective against Leatherface, the Life Saver ability can incapacitate the Family, creating an opportunity to escape or providing time to pick a lock or jump down a well. The next step is to unlock Restore Stamina, which leads to the highly coveted Quicker Recharge at level 3. This is the ultimate reward for Life Saver, as it reduces the ability cooldown to just over 2 minutes, allowing Leland to use the ability at least 3 times in an average game. Being the only victim capable of stunning an enemy quickly without relying on a stealth attack, players will strive to maximize their access to this ability.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available now on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
