Minecraft players have been familiar with signs since 2010. However, it was not until the Trails and Tales update that players could craft hanging signs to embellish their worlds. While some may not consider it a significant addition, many in the community have eagerly anticipated the arrival of hanging signs, as they bring a unique atmosphere compared to regular signs. Players may be eager to try hanging signs themselves, but first, they will need to discover the recipe.
One particular aspect of the recipe stands out, as it differs significantly from the standard sign crafting recipe. Hanging signs function similarly to regular signs in Minecraft, but their placement and appearance distinguish them. For players wanting to utilize this feature, it is essential to ensure they have the latest update, Trails and Tales, installed and ready to use.
Minecraft: How to Craft Hanging Signs
Crafting a Hanging Sign requires the following ingredients, arranged as follows: 2 Chains, which can be obtained by crafting an Iron Ingot with two Iron Nuggets.
6 Matching Stripped Logs or Stems can be obtained by using an Axe to strip a Log or Stem before breaking it. It is essential that all 6 pieces of logs/stems are of the same type of wood in Minecraft and are also stripped. To achieve this, players can place down the desired logs/stems, strip them with an Axe, pick them back up, and proceed to craft the Hanging Sign.
Minecraft: How to Use Hanging Signs
Hanging Signs can be placed on either the side or bottom of a block once they are crafted. Players can easily edit the text on both sides of the sign by simply right-clicking on that side. Similar to regular signs, Hanging Signs can be customized with Glow Ink Sacs to make the text glow or with Dye to change the text color.
Players are encouraged to experiment with Hanging Signs as an alternative method for labeling objects or providing additional context to their world-building endeavors. These signs add a visually appealing touch to Villages and can be especially striking when placed outside relevant buildings like the Blacksmith. The possibilities for their use are limited only by the player's own imagination.
Minecraft is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
