Introducing the Scarlet & Violet series in the world of Pokemon Trading Card Game, fans now have the opportunity to collect the new and exciting Hyper Rare cards. The first additional set in this series, called Paldea Evolved, is now available for purchase and contains a variety of Hyper Rare cards waiting to be discovered by collectors.
Paldea Evolved highlights the latest Pokemon introduced in the Scarlet & Violet video games, as well as the return of EX/ex cards in the TCG. These Hyper Rare cards, known for being the most elusive in any Pokemon TCG set, boast stunning designs and hold great value in any deck used for playing the game.
Meowscarada ex 271/193
Meowscarada, the ultimate evolution of the Grass-type starter Pokemon Sprigatito in Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet, is highly coveted among collectors. As one of the most powerful Pokemon cards available, it boasts remarkable Energy efficiency and deals devastating damage. With a staggering 310 HP, Meowscarada showcases the steady increase in strength among Pokemon cards with each new generation, surpassing the typical range of 110-190 HP seen in previous ex cards.
What sets this card apart is its exceptional ability to inflict 3 Damage Counters on any benched Pokemon belonging to the opponent, by simply sacrificing one Grass Energy card. This strategic advantage allows players to not only attack the benched Pokemon but also utilize Meowscarada's Scratching Nails move against the opposing active Pokemon, potentially causing up to 220 damage.
Skeledirge ex 272/193
Fuecoco, the beloved Fire-type starter from Scarlet & Violet, undergoes a remarkable evolution at level 36 and becomes Skeledirge. This final evolution is highly sought after by fans of Fuecoco, particularly the Hyper Rare card variant of Skeledirge ex, which is considered one of the top cards in the set. With a whopping 340 HP and being a Fire-type, the Skeledirge ex Hyper Rare card is a fantastic addition to any fire-themed deck.
While Skeledirge ex may not possess an ability similar to Meowscarada ex, it possesses the incredible Vitality Song move. This move allows Skeledirge ex to heal 30 HP from each Pokémon on the player's bench. Additionally, Skeledirge ex has access to the formidable Burning Voice attack, requiring two Fire Energies. This attack deals a powerful 270 damage, with the ability to decrease the damage by 10 for each damage counter on Skeledirge.
Quaquaval ex 273/193
Quaquaval represents the ultimate transformation of Quaxly, the Water-type starter in Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet. As a Hyper Rare card, this Quaquaval offers a trade-off between energy efficiency and sheer power and disruption. With a robust 320 HP, Quaquaval boasts two formidable attacks.
The first attack, Exciting Dance, only requires one Water Energy and inflicts 60 damage. Additionally, it allows the player to switch out Quaquaval ex with one of their benched Pokemon. This, in turn, forces the opponent to also switch out their active Pokemon. On the other hand, Spiral Shot demands two Energy (one Water Energy and one Energy) but comes with a hefty flat damage of 230. However, the player must return two Energy attached to Quaquaval ex back into their hand after using this attack.
Chien-Pao ex 274/193
Chien-Pao is a legendary Ice-type Pokemon found in the Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet series. Despite having a mere 220 HP as a basic Pokemon ex card, Chien-Pao ex compensates for its low HP by inflicting significant damage to opposing Pokemon.
The ability of Chien-Pao ex, called Shivery Chill, allows the player to search their deck for two basic Water Energy cards and add them to their hand, but only if Chien-Pao ex is the active Pokemon. As for its attack, Chien-Pao's sole move is Hail Blade, which demands two Water Energy cards and deals damage based on the number of Water Energy cards discarded from the player's Pokemon. The player has the freedom to discard Energy from any of their Pokemon currently in play.
Ting-Lu ex 275/193
Find Ting-Lu, a mythical Pokemon, within the expansive virtual world of Pokemon: Scarlet & Violet. Ting-Lu ex is a powerful Fighting-type card boasting a remarkable 240 HP. Its potential is further enhanced by the unique ability named Cursed Land, which restricts opposing Pokemon from utilizing their abilities (excluding ex Pokemon) as long as Ting-Lu ex occupies the active spot. This advantageous trait serves as a formidable weapon against opposing strategies.
In addition, Ting-Lu possesses the offensive move Land Scoop, which requires three Fighting Energy. When executed, Land Scoop inflicts a substantial 150 damage while concurrently permitting the trainer to allocate two damage counters onto any one of the adversary's benched Pokemon.
Super Rod 276/193
Trainer cards are highly effective for incorporating strategies with powerful Pokemon cards. Among these, the Super Rod card stands out as a valuable addition during matches.
Not only does the Super Rod Hyper Rare card boast an impressive golden illustration, but it also serves as a formidable Item card in battle. It grants players the ability to reshuffle up to three Pokemon and/or Basic Energy cards into their deck, offering assistance to those who have lost a valuable Pokemon or require additional Energy to succeed.
Superior Energy Retrieval 277/193
The Superior Energy Retrieval is an exceptional Item card for obtaining Basic Energy. It requires the player to discard two cards from their hand in order to activate its effect. Once activated, the player can retrieve up to 4 Basic Energy cards from their discard pile and add them to their hand.
This card synergizes well with certain Pokémon that rely on discarding Energy for their moves. It is particularly effective in the current meta of the Pokémon TCG, especially when used in conjunction with powerful cards like Chien-Pao ex. A deck showcasing a player's collection skills can be enhanced with the inclusion of rare and prized cards like the Hyper Rare Super Energy Retrieval.
Basic Grass Energy 278/193
Energy cards have traditionally been a part of the exclusive Hyper Rare cards collection, featuring two types of Energy as Hyper Rare cards. In Paldea Evolved, players can discover the Basic Grass Energy Hyper Card, designated as number 278/193.
This particular card serves primarily as a decorative or collector's item. Unlike the standard Grass Energy card with its ordinary green background and normal borders, the Hyper Rare Grass Energy stands out with its captivating golden border. Additionally, shiny sparkles enhance the mystical aura of the grass symbol, further enhancing the card's visual appeal.
Basic Water Energy 279/193
The Scarlet & Violet: Paldea Evolved set includes a Basic Water Energy Hyper Rare card, similar to the Grass Energy. However, this Water Energy card stands out as it is exclusively a Water-type Energy. It is the final Hyper Rare card in the set and showcases the water symbol, accompanied by shimmering sparkles and a distinctive golden border. With its stunning appearance, this card is an excellent addition to Water-themed decks.
