How To Complete Weird Science In Final Fantasy 16
In Final Fantasy 16, Clive can embark on various enjoyable and challenging side quests. Although most of these quests may not offer significant rewards upon completion, there are some that provide unique items and abilities that cannot be acquired elsewhere. An example of such a quest is the Weird Science side quest. However, players must first progress through the Out of the Shadow main quest in order to unlock it.
To begin the Weird Science side quest in Final Fantasy 16, players need to complete the Letting Off Steam 3 objective during the Out of the Shadow main quest. Once Clive accepts the quest from Owain, the quest-giver, he will be tasked with locating and defeating the formidable Bomb King monster.

After successfully finishing the Letting Off Steam sub-objective, Clive can proceed to Mid's Dungeon located in The Hideaway where he will meet Owain, the Engineer. Owain will request Clive's assistance in procuring Bomb Ash, which can only be obtained by defeating a Bomb King. As Owain lacks the necessary skills for this daunting task, it is now up to Clive to acquire the Bomb Ash.
Prior to embarking on the quest to find this formidable adversary, it is imperative for Clive to engage in a conversation with Nektar in The Mess and select the "Ask about bomb sightings" alternative. Once Clive has thoroughly scrutinized the Bomb King's dossier on the Hunt Board, the pursuit may commence.
How To Find The Bomb King
To initiate the quest to locate the Bomb King, Clive should utilize fast-travel and journey to The Dragon's Aery, located just east of Northreach. Once there, he can navigate southward while staying close to the map's eastern edge until he arrives at a gate that grants passage to The Imperial Chase. By progressing onwards and taking a left turn, Clive will eventually stumble upon a set of ruins within which the Bomb King will launch an ambush.
How To Beat The Bomb King
The initial encounter with the Bomb King doesn't pose much of a threat; its attacks are quite sluggish and can be easily dodged. However, as the Bomb King's health diminishes, the battle becomes more challenging. In addition to the creature's underwhelming projectile attacks and lunging strike, players should pay special attention to two particular moves.
Coronation: The Bomb King engulfs itself in flames and then launches a slow-moving fireball towards Clive. This attack can be easily dodged, but players should be careful of the flames it leaves behind. Towards the end of the battle, the Bomb King unleashes five fireballs instead of just one.
Witan: Once enough damage has been inflicted on the Bomb King, it will unleash an attack called Witan. In this move, the enemy, still surrounded by flames, lunges into the ground, creating a shockwave. As a result, four additional Bombs join the battle. If Clive maintains a safe distance from these smaller bombs, their eventual self-destruction will not harm him.
As a reward for defeating the Bomb King, Clive will receive 1 Bomb Ember, a material that can be used to craft and upgrade his gear.

To obtain the Bomb Ash that Clive needs, he must engage with the three green quest markers that were left behind in the wake of the Bomb King. Once Clive has collected all of them and added them to his inventory, he can conveniently teleport back to The Hideaway and deliver the Bomb Ash to Owain.
Having another interaction with Owain, Clive has the opportunity to deliver the Bomb Ash, thus finishing the Weird Science quest. In return for successfully completing the quest, Clive will be rewarded with a Treated Potion Satchel and 1 unit of Black Blood. The Treated Potion Satchel enhances Clive's capacity for carrying restorative items, whereas the Black Blood can be exchanged for Gil.
