The most notable addition is the Bastion system, which simplifies the process of creating a stronghold for the player's party. Additionally, the Dungeon Masters Guide will undergo restructuring to facilitate the learning process for new DMs. The developers also plan to make significant adjustments to features and backgrounds. Nevertheless, the most thrilling updates and modifications are reserved for the classes.

Sorcerers have been overshadowed by Wizards for a long time due to the latter's extensive range of spells. However, DnD is striving to bridge this gap by enhancing the Sorcerer's unique ability: Metamagic. In the current playtest, players can now select two Metamagic options for the same spell starting at level 7. Once they reach level 20, they will gain the ability to use Metamagic once per turn without expending any resources. Additionally, the cost of the Heightened Spell option, which reduces enemies' chances of resisting the Sorcerer's abilities, has been reduced to two sorcery points instead of three.

On the other hand, some adjustments have been made to balance Metamagic. The redesign of the Twinned Spell now allows players to repeat a spell from the previous turn by spending sorcery points, rather than using additional spell slots. Although this may seem less powerful compared to the DnD 5e version, where players could target two different creatures with a single-target spell in one turn, it ensures a more balanced gameplay experience.

One of the drawbacks of Sorcerer builds in Dungeons and Dragons is their limited spell options. However, this has been addressed in the latest edition, with the class now having a capacity of 22 spells, compared to 15 in the previous edition. Additionally, at level 1, the Sorcerer gains Innate Sorcery, which enhances the difficulty class of spell saves and attack rolls. These enhancements, combined with improvements to Metamagic, provide the player with increased spellcasting choices each turn.

In addition, the DnD Sorcerer will also have access to subclasses from Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything. One example is the Clockwork Soul, which focuses on defense. This subclass offers spells that revolve around shielding and purifying allies, as well as weakening enemy spells. Notably, the Clockwork Soul possesses the impressive ability called Restore Balance, which allows them to interfere with the advantage or disadvantage rolls of a nearby creature. This ability can be used to rescue party members from challenging situations or make it more challenging for opponents to target vulnerable allies who are prone.

Another subcategory that transitioned from the sourcebook to One DnD is the Aberrant Mind. This is ideal for players who aspire to portray the team's Professor Xavier, as it offers psychic capabilities suitable for both combat and roleplaying. Its standout feature is the Psionic Spells, providing the player with 11 additional abilities as they progress. Nevertheless, its most intriguing attribute is Telepathic Speech, enabling them to communicate with allies through a magical voice call. Moreover, the Sorcerer in DnD can utilize this ability to manipulate the thoughts of a non-player character, diverting their attention from guarding their post. However, it is important for the Sorcerer and the recipient to share a common language for this spell to be effective.

The Sorcerer class has always been captivating due to its capacity to manipulate the essence of spells through Metamagic and its various subclasses. However, its limited versatility when it comes to spells hindered its progress in previous editions. Yet, One DnD is compensating for these drawbacks by granting the class a more diverse array of abilities and enhancing the Metamagic feature.
