The 75th Annual Emmy Awards, originally scheduled for September 2023, has been postponed due to ongoing strikes by actors, writers, and other entertainment workers. The show will now take place in January 2024. The strike is a result of the failure to reach a labor agreement between the Writers Guild of America (WGA), the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).
Fans have a lot to anticipate when the awards show resumes, despite the longer wait for TV's biggest night. With the conclusion of Succession after four seasons in May 2023, the show has garnered attention with its Emmys nominations. Notably, Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, and Kieran Culkin, who are all part of the cast, are vying for the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series award. These nominations are just a fraction of the show's impressive total of 27 nominations.
In July 2023, Matthew Macfadyen, who stars in Succession alongside Nicholas Braun, expressed his delight at their nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Macfadyen acknowledged the importance of the show's writers, specifically mentioning Jesse and the team, and ended his statement with a reference to Succession's catchphrase, "buckle up, f–kleheads!"

Why Was the 2023 Emmys Pushed Back?
Due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, which are centered around demands for higher wages, streaming residuals, and labor assurances on issues such as the use of AI, the awards show had to be postponed. In July 2023, Variety reported that vendors and show producers were informed that their services would no longer be required on the original air date of September 18.
The WGA strike commenced in May 2023, followed by SAG-AFTRA in July 2023. In accordance with SAG-AFTRA strike regulations, union members are required to halt production on affected projects, abstain from attending press events and red carpets, and refrain from promoting their films and shows until the strike concludes. Struck projects encompass films produced by major studios affiliated with the AMPTP, as well as streaming platforms with similar agreements and the four major networks: ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox.
This year signifies the first instance since September 2001 and the 9/11 attacks that the Emmys have been rescheduled. The ceremony was broadcasted two months later.
