The Ultimate Guide: Mastering the Remnant 2 Cargo Control Key

Unlock hidden secrets in Remnant 2's Ward 13 with the Cargo Control Key Discover its location and master its usage for a thrilling gameplay experience

In Remnant 2, there is an abundance of secrets waiting to be discovered. Surprisingly, players do not need to venture beyond the boundaries of Ward 13 in order to encounter their first significant secret. Keen explorers may have already uncovered the hidden depths that lie within this safe zone, and observant players have the opportunity to obtain a well-concealed weapon.

This secret revolves around the Cargo Control Key, an item that cannot be stumbled upon while exploring the alien worlds of Remnant 2. Rather, it is specifically meant for a particular lock within the confines of Ward 13 itself. Fortunately, reaching this lock is a relatively uncomplicated task.

Remnant 2 Cargo Control Key Location (& How to Use It)

The Ultimate Guide: Mastering the Remnant 2 Cargo Control Key

The Cargo Control Key can be found inside a locked chest in Ford's office, located directly above the small workshop area next to the Worldstone. After completing the tutorial and subsequent Ward 13 tour section, players will have access to this chest.

To obtain the key, players should examine the bottom of the flashlight given to them by Ford at the beginning of the game. The code typically found here is 0415, which appears to be consistent in most playthroughs. However, it is possible that this code may change in future versions of Remnant 2. Enter the code into Ford's safe to acquire the Cargo Control Key.

To use the Cargo Control Key, players must enter the derelict freight ship located at the dock in Ward 13. From the Worldstone, take the exit leading to Brabus' firing range and continue past the fenced area with the shipping containers. Look for a pathway that leads to the interior of the ship, which is obstructed by a locked door. Interact with the door and choose the Cargo Control Key from the inventory menu that appears to unlock the room.

The MP60-R SMG, a weapon from the original Remnant game, is found inside. It boasts a slower fire rate compared to the Tech 22 Machine Pistol but offers increased damage per shot, a higher ammo capacity per magazine, and an extended damage falloff range. This SMG is an ideal choice for players who begin with the Hunter or Gunslinger Archetypes and desire a quicker-firing secondary weapon without the need to spend Scrap on purchasing a new gun.

The Hot Shot mod proves even more valuable when paired with an automatic weapon like the SMG, as its faster fire rate allows for swift Burn application. Activating such ammo-boosting mods also grants an instant reload to the attached weapon, enabling players to bypass time-consuming animations and gain a few precious seconds during combat.

Remnant 2 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
