The Ultimate Finale: Friday the 13th Game Drops a Jaw-Dropping Bombshell Right Before Closing its Servers

Friday the 13th: The Game bids farewell with a final thrilling surprise! Gun Interactive treats players to an unexpected gift before the servers go offline, adding an exciting twist to this iconic title's closure

Gun Interactive, the team behind Friday the 13th: The Game, has announced that fans can expect several in-game unlocks before the multiplayer game is taken down. In December 2023, the developers revealed that Friday the 13th: The Game will no longer be available for purchase. The removal is due to the expiration of the license agreement, but the game's servers will remain active until the following year.

Originally launched in 2017, Friday the 13th: The Game is based on the popular 1980s slasher franchise of the same name. Developed by Illfonic, the online 4v1 survival game allows players to work together to survive a night at Camp Crystal Lake while being hunted by the iconic serial killer, Jason Vorhees. Since its release, the game has been impacted by a contentious legal battle over the ownership of the Friday the 13th intellectual property. This conflict has resulted in the suspension of planned content updates across the entire franchise.

Gun Interactive has made a surprising announcement that will surely please fans. In a recent Tweet from the official Friday The 13th Game account, the developer revealed that starting on July 6, players will receive several in-game benefits. One of these benefits is an automatic boost to level 150, which is the maximum level for each player. This change has been implemented to lessen the reliance on database servers. In addition to the level boost, players will now have access to all of the kills from the base game and challenge skulls. Furthermore, all 30 legendary perks in Friday The 13th will be unlocked from the beginning and will no longer have any negative effects. This means that players who are aiming to complete remaining trophies or achievements will no longer have to endure a lengthy grind before the servers shut down permanently.

Players disappointed by the news of Friday The 13th: The Game shutting down, in search of an alternative to Behaviour Interactive's Dead By Daylight, can rest assured that Gun Interactive is ensuring they make the most of the game before it is removed from digital storefronts. As part of this effort, the team has permanently reduced the game's price to $4.99 on all platforms, with accompanying DLC being sold for just $.99 each.

In addition to these updates, Gun Interactive is diverting their focus towards the development of their next asymmetrical horror game, which will explore the renowned Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Developed by Sumo Digital, this highly-anticipated game is set to be released in August. Players will find themselves in a thrilling situation, as they must escape from the infamous Leatherface and his family, who are determined to hunt down a team of four players.

Friday the 13th: The Game is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
