The inclusion of Diablo 2's unique Crown of Ages in Diablo 4 would be highly beneficial as it offers exceptional defensive attributes, making it an ideal choice for various builds. Its reintroduction could greatly enhance player defenses, which is much needed in the game.
Diablo 4's reintroduction of unique quality items has generated excitement among dedicated players who seek the rarest equipment. Uniques, originally introduced in Diablo 2 as one-of-a-kind drops, were replaced by legendary items in Diablo 3. However, Diablo 4 offers players the best of both worlds, with both legendaries and uniques being available. Given that several Diablo 2 uniques are making a comeback in this latest installment, the esteemed Crown of Ages from Diablo 2 warrants inclusion in a future season.
Diablo 2's Crown of Ages Would be a Great Addition to Diablo 4
: The Grandfather, Andariel's Visage, and the iconic Harlequin Crest, also known as the Shako, are already among the unique items from Diablo 2 that have made their way to Diablo 4. Additionally, the Season of the Malignant introduced several other unique items from Diablo 2, such as the Ahavarion Spear of Lycander, Azurewrath, and The Oculus. While some of these additions have sparked controversy, the Crown of Ages deserves to be included as it was one of the finest all-around unique items in Diablo 2 and has the potential to hold a similar position in Diablo 4.The Crown of Ages in Diablo 2 is renowned for being one of the most formidable defensive gears in the game. It boasts exceptional attributes that enhance a player's survivability, making it a desirable choice. Its indestructible nature grants it a significant advantage over other headgear options as it never breaks or requires repairs. Furthermore, this remarkable crown features two sockets, allowing players to insert gems that provide additional defensive enhancements or even offensive boosts, depending on the type of gems used.
The Crown of Ages is ideal for Barbarians, Paladins, and Assassins due to its high strength requirement. It provides various bonuses, such as 30% faster Hit Recovery, 50% Enhanced Defense, +150 Defense, 30% All Resistance increase, 15% Damage Reduction, and +1 to all skills. These attributes make it the superior choice for Diablo 2 builds, and it has the potential to be reintroduced in Diablo 4.
If the Crown of Ages were to make a comeback in Diablo 4, it would need some modifications to align with the game's mechanics, similar to other returning Diablo 2 items. While the +1 to all skills could remain unchanged, the +150 Defense would likely be altered to +150 Total Armor. Additionally, the 30% faster Hit Recovery might be replaced with abilities like Barrier Generation or Life on Kill. In Diablo 4, the Crown of Ages could be specifically tailored for Barbarians and feature an affix like Maximum Fury, along with a unique bonus that complements the Barbarian's skill set.
Given the recent dissatisfaction among players regarding the nerf to all Diablo 4 classes and the buff to all enemies, introducing an item like the Crown of Ages to Diablo 4 could effectively enhance players' defensive capabilities. Considering Blizzard's commitment to reintroducing popular unique items from previous Diablo entries, it is highly probable that future seasons will bring even more of these items into the game. If this trend continues, there is a strong possibility that Diablo 2's Crown of Ages will find its way to Diablo 4, potentially establishing itself as one of the game's top utility items.
Diablo 4 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
