The Ultimate Baldur's Gate 3 Hide and Seek Guide: Master the Art of Finding Oliver!

In Baldur's Gate 3, players can encounter Oliver in the Ruined Battlefield area Instead of engaging in combat, they have the option to play hide and seek with him Discover strategies to outsmart Oliver and learn how to confront his formidable family in battle

In Baldur's Gate 3, players may stumble upon a dilapidated house known as "The House with Flowers," which surprisingly still has an inhabitant. This resident, Oliver, is a spirited tiefling child who exhibits unusual energy despite being afflicted by the shadow curse.

Remarkably, Oliver appears oblivious to his condition and eagerly proposes a game of "Hide and Seek" for the visiting party. Should the party agree to participate, Oliver rewards them with a valuable magical item. However, declining his invitation results in an arduous battle against his "family." Locating Oliver peacefully is not particularly difficult, provided that Baldur's Gate 3 players possess the necessary knowledge of how to navigate the second act.

Players have the option to gather additional information about Oliver's circumstances by passing Arcana and Insight checks. However, it is important to note that no dialogue choices allow the party to bypass the Hide and Seek game. Refusal to participate will result in Oliver becoming angered and his family attacking the party.

In the first round of the game, Oliver will make himself invisible and conceal himself behind the cart situated in front of the house. To determine his whereabouts, players can observe the word "Invisible" gradually dissipating from the house. One of the party members needs to approach the cart and successfully complete a Perception check to locate Oliver. This check is relatively easy to pass.

Oliver's frustration mounts as the party swiftly defeats him, leading him to insist on a rematch. Denying his request prompts the arrival of his family, resulting in a confrontation. However, if the players agree, Oliver raises the stakes by adding an additional challenge - apart from locating Oliver, they must also evade his formidable family.

To minimize the risk of being detected, players must keep three of their party members within the confines of the house while sending only one character to approach Oliver's initial hiding spot. It is advisable for the character to position themselves in the far corner, specifically the northwest corner, from where Oliver first emerges. This strategic location serves as an opportune waiting point for the players.

In the second game of Hide and Seek, Turn-based mode will initiate automatically. Therefore, it is essential for the three party members to quietly move while the fourth member swiftly dashes to Oliver's initial location. Even if the party is together, they can still quietly reach the corner of the house during the initial round.

Following one round of waiting, Oliver will begin sprinting back into the house. After two rounds, Oliver will return to his previous position. Players must patiently wait for him to arrive there, as party members are unable to communicate with him until he ceases running.

At this point, players should select the character standing beside Oliver and instruct them to cease their sneaky behavior before engaging in conversation with Oliver. Although Oliver will express anger at losing twice, he will nevertheless reward the party with a valuable item. This item is known as the Ring of Shadows, granting the wearer the ability to cast Pass Without Trace once per day. In the event that players are discovered and forced to combat the shadow family, Oliver will still present the party with his "second-place prize," which is also the Ring of Shadows.

How to Fight Oliver's Family

In the event of players refusing to participate in the game of Hide and Seek or being captured during the subsequent round, Oliver's family will unleash their wrath upon the party. Consisting of "Mummy," "Daddy," and "Doggy," this formidable group comprises two powerful shadow creatures whose presence emits an aura that triggers the intensified Shadow Curse within a certain range. Consequently, any individual venturing too close without adequate protection will endure Necrotic damage. Moreover, in addition to this curse, the parents possess the ability to teleport onto the rooftop and launch surprise attacks on party members.

The Doggy has lower stats compared to other creatures, with fewer hit points. However, it exhibits a unique behavior of swiftly approaching its target, launching an attack, and then vanishing into thin air. To prevent its disappearance, a strong source of light can be utilized.

Lastly, players have the option to pickpocket the Ring of Shadows from Oliver in the second game. By successfully doing so and subsequently winning the game, they will receive a non-magical Silver Band as the reward for completing the quest.
