Sabine's Family In Star Wars Rebels

: Clan Wren's history traces back to the Clone Wars, where Ursa Wren served as a member of Death Watch under Lady Bo-Katan Kryze's Nite Owls. Ursa actively participated in the Mandalore resistance, joining forces with her fellow Nite Owls, clone troopers, and even Ahsoka in the Siege of Mandalore. This unified effort led to the liberation of the planet from Darth Maul's rule. Initially vassals of Clan Vizsla, Clan Wren witnessed Ursa fulfilling the role of Countess on Krownest, where she assisted the Empire during their occupation of Mandalore post-Clone Wars. Inspired by Sabine's courageous fight against the Empire, Clan Wren played a crucial role in liberating the planet from Imperial rule. However, their fate following the liberation remains unknown.

Ursa Wren, Sabine's mother, is the origin of the name Clan Wren. She holds the distinguished title of the family's lead warrior, boasting a remarkable history of service to Mandalore and commanding unparalleled influence. In contrast, Sabine's father, Alrich Wren, devotes himself to his artistic endeavors rather than the ways of a warrior. It is from him that Sabine inherits her deep passion for art and her natural talent in the field. Out of respect for Ursa's esteemed position, Alrich adopted her last name as his own. Even during the Imperial occupation, Tristan, Sabine's brother, remained steadfast in his commitment to Clan Wren. While Sabine chose to flee and join the Ghost crew and the Rebellion, Tristan continued to serve as an Imperial Super Commando under the command of Governor Gar Saxon. However, Sabine's inspirational words motivated both Tristan and the rest of their clan to rise up and fight against the Empire.

Sabine's Family Died In The Purge Of Mandalore

In Ahsoka episode 4, it was revealed that Sabine's family did not survive the Purge of Mandalore. The Night of a Thousand Tears, led by Moff Gideon, devastated the planet and its inhabitants in an attempt to erase the Mandalorians. Clan Wren had likely joined forces with their ally Bo-Katan to protect their home before eventually being betrayed by Moff Gideon when their ruler surrendered. This explains why Sabine has chosen not to return to Mandalore or aid in its liberation in The Mandalorian season 3.

During the episode, Baylan Skoll used the fate of Sabine's family as leverage to manipulate her into giving him the map to Grand Admiral Thrawn. Interestingly, he also reminded Sabine that she holds Ahsoka accountable for their demise due to a lack of trust. This implies that Sabine's master may have dismissed her instincts about the impending danger to her planet and people, attributing them to her emotional connections rather than genuine belief. Although Ahsoka is not responsible for the Purge of Mandalore, it is evident that Sabine harbors resentment towards her master for not allowing her to assist her family. Ahsoka could potentially reveal that this event was the catalyst that fractured their relationship at the beginning of the series.
