The Talos Principle 2 offers not only an excellent puzzle game but also an engaging and expansive storyline. As you navigate through its world, you'll have numerous opportunities to interact with various characters, share your opinions, and even engage in social media activities. This game delves into philosophical debates surrounding the future of humanity and its role in the world. Your choices during these conversations will shape different aspects of the narrative as you progress.
Within The Talos Principle 2, there are three main endings accompanied by various additional scenes and variations that can be triggered under specific circumstances. Here is a comprehensive guide on how to achieve each ending and unlock optional scenes, while minimizing the number of spoilers provided.
Main Endings - The Final Choice
To complete the main story in The Talos Principle, you will need to solve eight puzzles in each of the 12 areas. This will grant you access to the megastructure a total of four times. Throughout your journey, you will have conversations with Prometheus, Pandora, and the Sphinx, each representing a different philosophical viewpoint on the future of New Jerusalem.
During your final visit to the megastructure, you will be faced with a decision regarding the fate of the machine. There are three options available, corresponding to the three figures mentioned earlier. Each option will unlock one of the main endings, with some minor variations depending on your actions throughout the game. These three endings serve as the primary components of the epilogue.
Leap of Faith - Choose to use the machine for the betterment of New Jerusalem (Prometheus ending)
Momentum Deferred - Choose to shut the machine down because humanity isn't ready (Sphinx ending)
Variations
Apart from the primary ending options, your interactions with various aspects of the narrative will impact the fates of different characters.
The Mayor
Upon completing your fourth expedition within the megastructure, you will discover that during your dormant state, an election has transpired. This election can yield diverse outcomes, each of which will have an impact on certain elements of the concluding cutscenes.
In The Talos Principle 2, there are numerous choices to be made that impact the outcome of the election. To effectively influence the attitudes of New Jerusalem, one can shape it through social media responses and conversations. Similar to the main endings, there are three primary variations.
To ensure that Hermanubis remains the mayor, opt for generally conservative choices in both conversations and social media posts. Select options that portray the Goal in a positive light and support limited growth for New Jerusalem. Additionally, choose to share the information obtained from the Somnodrome with the people, while keeping it concealed from the rest of New Jerusalem.
Byron, the newly elected mayor, should focus on promoting progressive ideas in conversations and social media posts. It is important to choose options that encourage growth and view the Goal as detrimental and stagnant for New Jerusalem. When speaking to Hermanubis before boarding the VTOL, express the belief that the Goal is a myth that has harmed humanity. Lastly, make sure to share the information obtained from the Somnodrome with the public.
If Rand becomes the mayor, it is advisable to adopt a more cautious and moderate approach in conversations and social media posts. When discussing with Hermanubis before boarding the VTOL, express your belief that the Goal is a myth that negatively impacts humanity. Additionally, be careful when sharing the information from the Somnodrome with the public.
The mayor will appear in the different epilogues and you'll sometimes get different dialogue depending on who is in charge and what final choice you make.
Golden Gate Puzzles
In order to unlock 12 additional, advanced puzzles in The Talos Principle 2, players must successfully complete all main puzzles in each area, including the eight required to access the tower, as well as the separate "bonus" puzzles.
By accomplishing all 120 regular puzzles, players will gain access to a special Golden Gate puzzle in each area. These puzzles pose a greater challenge compared to the rest of the game. If players manage to conquer all 12 of them, a final Golden Gate puzzle will be unlocked at the megastructure location. Venturing into this area provides an opportunity to participate in another activity and engage in dialogue. We won't reveal what this unlocks, but it has a profound impact on all three endings, introducing additional scenes.
Yaqut's Epilogue
Completing the Golden Gate puzzles will grant you the opportunity to unlock an extra epilogue scene for Yaqut. Due to a bug in our playthrough, we are unsure of the exact requirements for unlocking it, but we have a fairly solid understanding.
After completing your fourth exploration of the megastructure, you will return to New Jerusalem, and then venture back to the island for the ultimate phase of The Talos Principle 2. During this final stage, you will have the opportunity to discuss with the other members of your expedition whether they wish to join you on the last journey.
You specifically desire Yaqut's presence for this crucial part. To persuade him to accompany you, it is crucial to consistently reassure him about the dangers of the megastructure and demonstrate that he is not alone in his concerns. Should he agree to join, an additional scene related to the Golden Gate puzzle scenes can be expected.
Additional Scenes
Star puzzles
There are additional puzzles connected to the statues of Prometheus, Pandora, and the Sphinx located in each of the 12 areas. Completing each statue puzzle will reward you with a Star item. If you manage to collect all 24 Stars, you can take them to a hidden gate within an Astronomy temple at the megastructure.
Inserting the Stars into the gate will eventually unlock it, revealing another puzzle. By solving this puzzle, you will unlock a cutscene that may suggest new story possibilities for The Talos Principle 3. This cutscene is not technically part of the ending and can be obtained by completing the final Star puzzle. However, it serves as an additional component to the overall narrative of the game.

Trevor's audio logs
Scattered throughout the terminals in each area, you can find audio logs from Trevor, a coworker of Alexandra Drennan. She is the scientist behind the simulation that gave rise to these new robotic humans. Completing Trevor's story by locating all 12 of his logs will unlock an additional scene during the credits.
Finding these doesn't require much effort if you diligently explore every corner of each area. Utilize the compass located at the top of the screen, which will display question mark icons to alert you of nearby undiscovered items. After you have uncovered Trevor's entire narrative, make sure to stay until the end of the credits to witness its culmination.

The Talos Principle 2 is a thought-provoking game that explores the future of humanity and its role in the world. The game offers multiple endings, each of which is influenced by the player's choices throughout the game. In my opinion, the best ending is the one where the player chooses to use the machine for the betterment of New Jerusalem.
