Why did Choso not kill Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen
In Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, Choso experienced false memories which made him believe that Yuji Itadori was one of his brothers. As for the source of these intrusive memories, it remains unclear. However, there exists a theory that offers a plausible explanation. As per the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Kenjaku had previously possessed the bodies of two significant figures: Noritioshi Kamo, the most malicious jujutsu sorcerer in history, and Kaori Itadori, the mother of Yuji Itadori.
Choso, as depicted in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 (Image via MAPPA)Noritoshi Kamo was the individual tasked with the creation of the Cursed Womb: Death Paintings. He achieved this by combining his blood with the Death Paintings while their mother was pregnant. As a result, Kenjaku became one of the progenitors of the Death Paintings, together with the mother and the Curse that impregnated her.
In later years, Kenjaku employed his natural ability to transfer his consciousness into the body of Kaori Itadori. Assuming her identity, Kenjaku utilized her physical form to engage in a reproductive act with Jin Itadori, ultimately giving rise to their son, Yuji.
Yuji Itadori, as depicted in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 (Image via MAPPA), was created through the involvement of Kenjaku using Kaori. The reason behind Kenjaku's decision to utilize Kaori in the process of bringing Yuji into existence remains undisclosed in the manga. However, there exist suspicions that this ancient curse user intended to eventually employ Itadori as a vessel, possibly for his own possession or that of Ryomen Sukuna. Irrespective of the motive, Kenjaku's utilization of Kaori establishes him as one of Yuji's parents. The involvement of Kenjaku in these two incidents strongly suggests that both Yuji Itadori and Choso are his sons. Consequently, it becomes evident that, unbeknownst to them, the Jujutsu Sorcerer and the Cursed Painting are actually step-siblings. However, Sukuna, the King of Curses, was shown displaying surprise towards something. Although the anime did not disclose the cause of Sukuna's astonishment, it is possible that he became aware of Itadori and Choso's connection to Kenjaku.
Given that Noritoshi Kamo possessed Blood Manipulation abilities, it is conceivable that when Choso, his son, came into contact with Itadori's blood, his body recognized the Jujutsu Sorcerer as one of his own siblings. In response, Choso's mind may have fabricated false memories to accept Itadori as one of his Death Painting brothers. While the manga has yet to unveil the truth behind these fabricated memories, it is likely that they will be disclosed in the near future.
