The highest-ranked player in Apex Legends, Facilitatur, was unexpectedly banned during a Ranked match.
Facilitatur, a well-known figure in the Apex Legends community, has gained infamy for his cheating tendencies. Prior to switching to PC, he was implicated in using hacks on Xbox. The recent ban during a Ranked game not only highlights the developers' commitment to addressing cheating concerns, but also showcases their willingness to penalize even the most skilled players in the game.
During a recent Ranked match of Apex Legends, the top player in the battle royale unexpectedly received a ban mid-fight. Cheating in Apex Legends is not uncommon, but having the number one ranked Apex Predator on PC involved in cheating is definitely a cause for concern. Thankfully, this player will no longer hold the top spot on the game's leaderboards.
The player in question is Facilitatur, who has gained a notorious reputation within the Apex Legends community over the past few years. Initially, Facilitatur made a name for themselves on Xbox, rapidly ascending the ranks. However, due to accusations of using hacks, both Facilitatur and their partner, Invulnerable, switched to PC. Despite the controversy, Facilitatur managed to reclaim their position near the top of the rankings, eventually becoming the highest-ranked player in the game. However, their continued rise has sparked increased scrutiny from the community and has prompted Respawn Entertainment to take decisive action.
According to a recent video posted by Apex Legends News, Apex Legends player Facilitatur was banned from the game during a Ranked match. This is noteworthy because Facilitatur was the highest-ranked player in the PC battle royale, indicating that the developer is willing to punish even top-ranking players. The ban was captured in a video shared by content creator RealLegendJuice.
In the video, RealLegendJuice and their squad were engaged in a battle near a group of buildings outside Production Yard on the Broken Moon map. After RealLegendJuice was eliminated, their gameplay recap showed that Facilitatur, who was playing as the newly updated character Revenant, had taken them down. RealLegendJuice then observed as their last remaining teammate faced off against the highest-ranked player. Just when it seemed like their teammate was going to be defeated, Facilitatur's Revenant suddenly vanished and a message appeared in the kill feed, confirming that the player had been removed from the game.
It should be noted that there have been calls from some players to ban Facilitatur from the game for some time now. Notably, HisWattson, a popular content creator and former professional player, had previously made posts pointing out the player's questionable rise to the top of the PC rankings. According to HisWattson, Facilitatur was seemingly always aware of others' presence and could never be caught off guard, leading to suspicions of unfair play.
While the removal of cheating players from the competitive playlist is a positive step, only time will tell how the Ranked mode adjusts in the coming weeks. Balancing the difficulty of the Ranked system in Apex Legends has been an ongoing issue for Respawn Entertainment, with finding a solution that satisfies the majority of players proving to be a challenge. Hopefully, the top ranks of the game will be filled with players who choose to play fairly in the future.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
