Expanding on Valak's horrifying reign in France in the 1950s and providing a more human perspective on Maurice, The Nun II sets the foundation for the future of The Conjuring franchise. Packed with hidden details and a distinctive exploration of Valak's backstory, this sequel is a must-watch for dedicated fans eager to unravel all the concealed aspects.
The director of The Nun II, Michael Chaves, has recently revealed numerous Easter eggs scattered throughout the film for viewers to discover. Now that the movie is available for streaming, audiences can pause and search for these hidden gems. As a part of The Conjuring universe, the story revolves around the reappearance of Valak, who continues to possess Maurice from the previous installment. Initially introduced in The Conjuring 2, this malevolent entity's backstory is further explored in its own series of films.
During an interview with SlashFilm, Chaves acknowledges the presence of multiple Easter eggs artfully placed throughout The Nun II. The director sheds light on various hidden details, such as Valak's name subtly displayed in one scene and concealed objects in another. Take a look at Chaves' comments below:
I haven't been online much to check if people have discovered them, but there are a few. Before the newsstand sequence, the location actually spells out 'Valak'. I planned it out, and during editing, we made sure that each shot was in the right place. Normally, in editing, you have some room to play around, but this time, it was important to me that the letters appeared in sequence.
In addition to that, there is a brief moment in which you catch a glimpse without specifying what it is or who it is. When Irene confronts Valak while being airborne, this glimpse reveals something significant.
Furthermore, in one of the final scenes of the movie, where Irene is looking at Maurice, she is seen clutching her rosary. This image bears a resemblance to another imagery that can potentially be connected if one examines the previous movie posters. So far, no one has brought attention to this detail, although I haven't extensively researched online. I am genuinely curious if anyone is able to decipher its meaning.
The Nun II Is An Important Entry In The Conjuring Universe
The horror movie's numerous Easter eggs highlight its significance within The Conjuring universe. It humanizes Maurice and delves deeper into Valak's horrifying presence in 1950s France. The ending of The Nun II carries a bittersweet tone, as it foreshadows Maurice's fated demise during an exorcism despite the demon being silenced. Additionally, the film's post-credits scene featuring Ed and Lorraine Warren suggests that The Conjuring: Last Rites may revolve around Valak in some capacity, potentially concluding the franchise while also exploring Maurice's exorcism, thereby completing the full circle of the entire series.
The Nun II offers an abundance of hidden Easter eggs, making it an enticing choice for a re-watch to catch all the intriguing secrets sprinkled throughout. In addition to its compelling mysteries, the film takes a fresh approach in exploring Valak's backstory, adding a unique dimension to the story. Director Chaves skillfully incorporates numerous secretive elements, making the movie even more worthwhile for those who have already been terrorized by it. You can now stream The Nun II on Max.

As a Gen Z netizen, I am excited about the release of The Nun 2 and the Easter eggs that have been revealed by director Michael Chaves. I am a big fan of The Conjuring Universe and I am always looking for new ways to engage with the franchise. I think that the Easter eggs are a great way to reward fans for their dedication and to add an extra layer of楽しみ to the movie.
I am also interested in the human perspective on Maurice that The Nun 2 will provide. In the previous film, Maurice was possessed by Valak and was a terrifying antagonist. However, in The Nun 2, we will get to see a more vulnerable side of Maurice as he struggles to fight against the demon's control. I think that this will add a lot of depth to the character and make him more relatable to the audience.
Overall, I am very excited about The Nun 2 and I can't wait to see it when it comes out. I think that it will be a great addition to The Conjuring Universe and I am sure that fans will love it.
