A startup named Nothing, co-founded by former OnePlus employees, launched its inaugural smartphone in the previous year. The company is now preparing to introduce the Nothing Phone 2, with hopes for it to be an improved version. Nothing recently disclosed that it will unveil the Nothing Phone 2 in a live event on July 11 at 11 AM Eastern Time. While the teaser does not disclose many details, it does feature backlit "glyph" shapes akin to those found on the original Nothing Phone, as well as tentacles for an unknown reason.
Details about the phone are currently limited, but it has been confirmed that it will come equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, promising improved performance compared to the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset present in the previous model. Notably, this will mark Nothing's inaugural phone release in the United States. While the previous iteration of the Nothing Phone lacked any noteworthy features, aside from its lights, it functioned as a typical upper-midrange Android device that was slow to receive Android 13 updates, taking six months to do so after its release by Google. With Samsung's Galaxy A and Google's Pixel A series boosting the standards for budget Android phones in the US, and the iPhone SE 2022 also available with its iPhone 8-like design, there are numerous options to consider.
