The Iron Claw ending explained: Fritz has a vision
Fritz Von Erich, a former wrestler who once dominated the Texas circuit with his infamous ‘Iron Claw’ move, has now settled down with his wife Doris (Maura Tierney) and their four sons – Kevin (Zac Efron), David (Harris Dickinson), Kerry (Jeremy Allen White), and Mike (Stanley Simons). Tragically, viewers also discover that Fritz and Doris lost their older son, Jack Jr., at the age of five.
Kevin is well on his way to fulfilling his potential as a wrestler, dedicating himself to the sport and his father's dreams. Fritz is determined to make the Von Erich family famous in the wrestling world, relentlessly pursuing the heavyweight title and belt. David joins Kevin in the ring to elevate the family's reputation, while Kerry's Olympic aspirations are shattered when the country decides not to compete in Moscow. He joins his brothers in the wrestling scene, gaining increasing popularity. Meanwhile, Mike has no interest in wrestling and instead dreams of a career in music, while Kevin and Pam's relationship blossoms as the rest of the brothers sneak out to support Mike's band.
The Von Erich curse strikes

The family's alleged 'Von Erich' curse strikes quickly, with Kevin's shot at the heavyweight title derailed by injury. Instead, Fritz chooses David to go to Japan and compete for the world title. Amidst this, Kevin and Pam marry, and David falls ill during the wedding reception. Kevin warns David not to let their father push him too far. Tragically, David succumbs to intestinal issues while in Japan.
After David's funeral, Fritz insists that one of his sons must step up to compete. Both Kerry and Kevin offer themselves, but a coin flip ultimately favors Kerry. Devastated, Kevin throws himself into training, straining his relationship with Pam, who is pregnant. Kerry wins the title, but spirals into depression and loses a foot in a motorcycle accident shortly after.
With Kerry out for the count and Kevin continuing to decrease in Fritz’s estimations, it’s over to Mike to step into the ring. Hesitantly taking to training, he is eventually molded in David’s image, going as far as to adopt the Iron Claw move both his brother and dad performed. During a match, Mike falls hard on his shoulder and needs surgery. The routine procedure goes awry, placing Mike in a life-or-death coma.
The sadness keeps on coming

The conclusion of The Iron Claw shows Kerry re-learning to fight with his prosthetic foot, while Kevin dedicates more time to their Texas arena. Mike emerges from a coma feeling melancholic as he adjusts to rebuilding his life. In order to not disappoint their father, all three of the Von Erich brothers are pushing themselves beyond their limits to return to the ring and be in top fighting form.
Devastated by the loss of his brother, Mike takes his own life, causing additional heartbreak for the family. As Kevin grows more distant from his wife Pam, she reveals that their marriage is no longer working for her. On a Christmas visit to Fritz's house, Kerry presents a gun as a gift and introduces his new girlfriend. Later that night, Kevin receives a distressed call from Kerry, prompting him to reach out to Fritz for help in finding his brother.
Tragically, Kevin discovers Kerry's lifeless body outside of Fritz's house the following day, having taken his own life with the gun. Blaming Kevin for not doing enough to help Kerry, Fritz and Kevin come to blows. As a result, Kevin decides to focus on his family, selling the Texas arena against his father's wishes. In the afterlife, Kerry reunites with his brothers and meets his nephew Jack Jr. for the first time.
Struggling with grief, Kevin shares his pain with his sons, expressing his feelings of lost brotherhood. In a touching moment, his sons promise to be there for him as his brothers once were.
