Summary

UBA is in trouble on The Morning Show and tech billionaire Paul Marks may save or destroy the network, bringing major changes behind the scenes.

Jon Hamm's inclusion in the show as Paul Marks adds depth and dimension to the storyline by allowing the exploration of different aspects of the characters.

The relationship between Bradley and Laura experiences unpredictable obstacles, yet their passionate connection remains unbreakable, adding to the ongoing drama.

In The Morning Show season 3, premiering on Apple TV+ on September 18, UBA undergoes a transformative experience. Following the events of the pandemic-filled season 2 finale, Alex Levy finds herself on stable ground once again, while Bradley Jackson fights for ethical journalism on the evening news. The addition of Olympic athlete Chris Hunter to the UBA family raises questions about workplace equity rather than providing clear answers.

Despite this, The Morning Show faces significant challenges that only Paul Marks, played by Jon Hamm, can resolve. Paul, a tech billionaire and space travel enthusiast, seeks to offer a lifeline to the network, which has been struggling due to Cory Ellison's streaming service and business decisions. The show witnesses major shifts behind the scenes, all while Bradley and Laura Peterson's romance simmers and creates complications for Bradley when a hack exposes employees' personal information.

Furthermore, the interview also explored the magnetic presence that Jon Hamm brings to the show, as well as the dynamic evolution of the collaborative efforts between Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Ellenberg himself. The Morning Show Season 3: Revealing the Thrilling Headlines and Heartaches

Screen Rant: This season encompasses a diverse array of news stories, spanning from the events of January 6th to the landmark case of Roe v. Wade. How are the headlines chosen to be incorporated into the narrative? Do varying opinions arise within the team when deciding which stories to feature?

Michael Ellenberg expressed that there are ongoing discussions and debates happening behind the scenes of the show. The topics we address are significant, and individuals are actively working through these issues in real time. Charlotte has done an impressive job of focusing on one major storyline for the season, namely the entrance of Paul Marks, a powerful figure in the tech industry, who has the potential to either save or destroy UBA.

Additionally, we aim to explore the pressing issues of our time that not only reflect the challenges faced in the real world, but also resonate with the experiences of our characters. Given the chaotic nature of the world we live in, there is no shortage of compelling stories to choose from. We approach them with great care, ensuring that we do justice to the subjects themselves while also ensuring that they have a meaningful impact on the lives of our characters.

Jon Hamm delivers a stellar performance as Paul Marks, showcasing various sides of characters like Stella, Alex, Corey, and Bradley. Given his importance to the season, how were you able to secure Jon Hamm for the role?

Michael Ellenberg: Tatiana, that's a great question. We were incredibly fortunate. The pilot script was exceptional, and Jon Hamm was eager to dive back into a world reminiscent of Don Draper. Although it's not the same character, it's connected to the world he previously inhabited. I believe for him, the opportunity to collaborate with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon was too enticing to resist. Additionally, as you mentioned, he enjoys a position of power over Billy Crudup's character before things become more complex for him towards the end of the season.

The Morning Show Season 3: Revealing the Thrilling Headlines and Heartaches

Jon's role in this production is truly stellar, one that he eagerly anticipated taking on. Although there is an alternative portrayal of this character as a straightforward villain, Jon infused it with profound complexity, transforming it into a nuanced and relatable persona. Moreover, his infectious grin added a delightful and irresistible charm to the character. We couldn't be more thrilled that Jon took on this role, especially since he was the only candidate who perfectly fit the part. It was an extraordinary stroke of luck to have him on board.

I absolutely love Bradley and Laura's relationship in this season, as it takes numerous unexpected turns. Will they be able to resolve their issues? Can these two unique individuals find a way to work things out?

Michael Ellenberg: I'll leave it up to the audience's judgment, but I personally adore their relationship. I believe anyone who watches it will feel the same way. They have such intense chemistry. There's a particularly breathtaking scene towards the end of the season where Julianna and Reese, portraying Laura and Bradley, have a powerfully charged encounter. Even when they're angry with each other, the connection between the characters is palpable. I believe it will continue. Even if they are completely separated, the spark between them is simply too strong to be extinguished.

I also have a strong admiration for the dynamic between Bradley and Alex, but I am curious about the growth in working with Reese and Jennifer as producers throughout these three seasons.

Now, we are all in our element. We have a clear understanding of the show's identity and how to bring it to life creatively. Behind the scenes, there is a sense of ease and perhaps even a hint of daring, driven by the multitude of topics we explore this year. We are fully aware of the show's ambitious nature, and it has served as inspiration for us to push even further, to never let our guard down. We are aiming high, aiming to secure Jon Hamm, and address a wide range of subjects. This season, we are taking risks that may potentially shake up the entire network, and that's what makes it exciting. Audiences will get to experience the thrill of the unknown, wondering if we will successfully accomplish our goals. I am confident in where we ended up, but ultimately, the viewers will have the final say.
