WARNING: This article contains SPOILERS for Loki season 2, episode 1
Summary
Jonathan Majors will return as Kang variant Victor Timely in the second season of Loki, as revealed in the trailer. His arrest in 2023 did not have any impact on his involvement in Loki season 2, as the filming had already concluded.
The exact episode in which Majors will appear remains uncertain, but it is unlikely to be the season 2 finale due to his appearance in the trailers.
Given his introduction in season 1 and establishment as the next major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans may be curious if Jonathan Majors' Kang will appear in season 2 of Loki. Majors joined the MCU in the season 1 finale as He Who Remains, a Kang variant named Nathaniel Richards who controlled the sacred timeline by defeating all other variants. Despite Sylvie's actions leading to the release of the multiverse, Marvel has made it evident that Kang's storyline is far from over.
Following the introduction of another variant, Kang the Conqueror, in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, he became the main antagonist for Scott Lang and his family. Although Ant-Man managed to defeat this version of Kang, the post-credits scenes in Quantumania revealed the existence of numerous other Kangs from different universes. In addition, one of the scenes hinted at Majors' Kang appearing in season 2 of Loki. However, since the first episode of Loki season 2 has aired without any sign of the villain, there may be confusion regarding his potential appearance.
Jonathan Majors Plays Kang Variant Victor Timely In Loki Season 2
As observed in the Loki season 2 trailer, Jonathan Majors will once again portray the role of Kang variant Victor Timely in the show, following his appearance in the post-credits scene of Quantumania. Limited information is available regarding the MCU's iteration of Victor Timely, with only the revelation that he is an inventor/scientist engaged in the realm of time theory. In the Marvel Comics, Nathaniel Richards adopts the persona of Victor Timely after traveling from the future to the past.
Jonathan Majors' Arrest Didn't Affect His Loki Season 2 Role
Following the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Majors was arrested on March 25 in New York City for charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment. While a trial date has yet to be determined, these allegations have raised questions about his future in the MCU. Marvel Studios has refrained from making any comments regarding the situation. However, Kevin Wright, the executive producer of Loki, revealed to Variety that Majors' arrest had no impact on the second season as filming had already concluded in 2022.
Wright stated that there were no discussions regarding altering Majors' role in Loki season 2. He emphasized that he was unaware of any developments beyond what the public knows, and believed it would be premature to make any decisions without understanding the full context. Based on Wright's remarks, it appears that Marvel is awaiting the conclusion of Majors' trial before making any determinations about his future in the MCU. Since the season was completed prior to Majors' arrest, the show was unaffected, and it is still anticipated that Majors will make an appearance in Loki season 2.
When Does Jonathan Majors Show Up In Loki Season 2?
The exact episodes in which Majors will appear in during Loki season 2 are not yet known. However, it has been confirmed that he did not make an appearance in the premiere. It is unlikely that Majors' Victor Timely will be saved for the season 2 finale, considering he was shown in the trailer. In a similar manner, He Who Remains was deliberately kept hidden from all the Loki season 1 marketing and only appeared in the finale. As Victor Timely is shown in the trailers, it can be presumed that he will make an earlier appearance in the season. The specific episode of Loki season 2 in which he will appear, though, remains to be determined.
Loki season 2 continues next Thursday, Oct. 12 at 9pm ET on Disney+.
