Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Secret Invasion episode 2.
The role of the Fantastic Four in creating the Super Skrull has been replaced by Secret Invasion, and this change only exacerbates the absence of the Avengers. The decision to exclude the Avengers from Secret Invasion is justified for practical and franchise-related reasons. As Fury mentions in the show, involving the remaining version of the team with the Skrulls would likely lead to significant complications, given the Skrulls' ability to replicate each member. From a franchise perspective, featuring the Avengers in Nick Fury's intense spy series would divert attention away from him, especially considering the uncertainty surrounding the current appearance of the Avengers.
However, this does not imply that the omission of the superhero team is devoid of issues. Secret Invasion, which tackles a significant threat to the world, presents Nick Fury as a fitting candidate to counter Gravik's plot of obliterating humanity. Yet, it is not entirely unjustified for individuals to question Fury's decision to exclude others. This skepticism becomes even more valid now that the show has introduced the first MCU Super Skrull to be featured in Secret Invasion, further complicating matters.
Secret Invasion's Super Skrull Will Be Over-Powered
The first Super Skrull, Kl'rt, is unbelievably powerful, even among the larger-than-life superheroes. Gifted with the combined abilities of each member of the Fantastic Four, he not only wields their powers but also possesses significantly enhanced versions of them. This makes him individually stronger than the entire team combined. Consequently, defeating the Super Skrull in combat proves to be an immensely challenging task, as the superhero team are already exceptionally powerful individuals.
While the Secret Invasion version of the Super Skrull isn't using the Fantastic Four's DNA, the MCU iteration instead incorporates genetic material from Cull Obsidian, Groot, the Frost Beast, and the Extremis virus, all of which have demonstrated immense strength individually. Bearing this in mind, it becomes evident that this Super Skrull will possess equal power and thus pose an equally significant threat. However, what remains uncertain is how Nick Fury will efficiently counter this menace without the assistance of the Avengers.
Nick Fury Needs Superhero Help In Secret Invasion... And He Can't Have It
With the imminent danger of nuclear destruction caused by Gravik's sinister plot, combined with the imminent arrival of the formidable Super Skrull, it is difficult to foresee how Nick Fury can effectively address the current crisis without the aid of superheroes. Although Talos possesses impressive abilities, his struggle against a regular Skrull in Episode 1 of Secret Invasion suggests he would likely be outmatched by a Super Skrull. Unless Fury possesses an ingenious and well-concealed strategy, defeating the Skrull menace without resorting to extreme measures seems insurmountable. This raises the possibility that the theory of Nick Fury's demise in Secret Invasion may indeed ring true.
