Lucasfilm is bringing The Mandalorian to the big screen. Director Jon Favreau will produce and direct "The Mandalorian & Grogu," a movie spinoff of the popular Disney+ series, starring Pedro Pascal.
Favreau expressed, "I have thoroughly enjoyed crafting narratives within the expansive universe that George Lucas envisioned. The opportunity to translate the adventures of the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the cinema is truly exhilarating."

The film is set to begin production in 2024. "Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have introduced two new and beloved characters into the Star Wars universe, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen," said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.
Lucasfilm is utilizing the Disney+ series, such as "Ahsoka" and "Obi-wan Kenobi," to generate excitement among audiences for the return of "Star Wars" to the big screen. Additionally, a standalone film starring Daisy Ridley as the character Rey from the latest trilogy is currently being developed.
