Former MLB pitcher Tim Wakefield and his wife, Stacy Wakefield, were married for over two decades before their passing.
The couple first crossed paths in 2000 when Tim joined the Boston Red Sox in 1995, marking the start of his 17-year tenure with the team. Following their meeting, Tim and Stacy tied the knot in 2002 and later had two children together, son Trevor and daughter Brianna.
Stacy, Trevor, and Brianna were there for Tim during many of his career milestones, including his retirement from the MLB in 2012. In his retirement speech, he expressed his gratitude for their sacrifices over the years, allowing him to pursue his dreams and never giving up on him during tough times.
Tim also shared his excitement about spending more time with his family, stating that Boston is their home and always will be. He mentioned that Stacy grew up there, their children were born there, and it was essentially where he grew up as well.
Tim passed away one month before his and Stacy’s 21st wedding anniversary in October 2023, succumbing to brain cancer at the age of 57. Stacy followed him in death five months later, with the cause of her passing not immediately disclosed.

Tim's Experience at the American Century Championship 2023:
Tim recently attended the American Century Championship golf tournament with Stacy and Brianna. He took to Instagram to share his gratitude, saying, "Thank you @acchampionship and @nbcsports for an amazing week. Honored to be invited to such a special event." Tim expressed his joy in catching up with old friends, making new ones, and having his daughter by his side throughout the tournament.
Tim's former teammate Curt Schilling disclosed on his podcast "The Curt Schilling Baseball Show" in September that Tim was battling brain cancer and Stacy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The decision to share this private health information without their consent led to criticism from fans and the Red Sox.
In response to the public disclosure, the Red Sox issued a statement addressing the situation. They acknowledged the statements made about Tim and Stacy Wakefield's health, emphasizing that the information was shared without their permission. The team recognized the sensitive nature of their health struggles and their desire to handle it privately as they undergo treatment. Tim and Stacy expressed gratitude for the ongoing support and love they have received and requested privacy during this challenging time.

Tim Wakefield passed away in October when he was 57 years old. The Red Sox expressed their sorrow in a statement, saying, "Our hearts are shattered by the news of Tim Wakefield's passing. He represented genuine kindness; a loving husband, father, and teammate, a cherished broadcaster, and an exceptional leader in the community. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the sport and to all members of Red Sox Nation."
The team extended their heartfelt condolences to Stacy, Trevor, Brianna, and the Wakefield family, expressing their deepest love and thoughts.
Stacy later shared one of Tim's last messages for his fans, emphasizing the importance of remembering one's roots and being a mentor to others. The screenshot, shared by Stacy through former NHL player Bobby Orr, urged individuals to help those less fortunate and to always give back.
Tim emphasized that his experience with various charities throughout his career has shown him that he has gained more than he has contributed. He stressed that material possessions like wealth, the size of your home, or the type of car you drive are insignificant compared to the impact you have on others' lives. Ultimately, Tim believes that the most important question to ask yourself is whether you have made a positive difference in someone else's life.
