Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer have been together for years, transitioning from onscreen costars to real-life lovers.

They first met on the set of HBO's True Blood, where they portrayed the characters of Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton from 2008 to 2014.

The couple started dating a few months into filming but kept their relationship private until February 2009. Moyer shared, "We were both very deliberate about keeping it low-key. We didn't want to distract our colleagues on set or overshadow the show."

In August 2009, Moyer proposed to Paquin, and they got married the following year. Their family grew in September 2012 with the arrival of twins, a daughter named Poppy and a son named Charlie. (Moyer also has two children, Lilac and Billy, from previous relationships.)

They have worked together on multiple projects, one of which is the film A Bit of Light in April 2024. Moyer expressed his excitement, saying that working with Paquin is a thrill. "Perks are easy. We know each other inside out," Moyer shared exclusively with We in March 2024. "We’ve worked together for many, many years as actors and as producers."

August 2009

Moyer proposed to Paquin while they were on the beaches of Hawaii. He mentioned in a 2009 interview with Access Hollywood that there was a song in the first season called 'White Sandy Beach in Hawaii' which was quite funny and ironic. The idea of the proposal started as a joke, but they eventually decided to go to Hawaii with Moyer's kids.

June 2010

In June 2010, Moyer revealed that he was aware of Paquin's bisexuality even before she publicly came out during the Give a Damn campaign. He emphasized that her sexuality was never a secret from him.

Moyer expressed full support for her actions in a June 2010 interview with Playboy. He stated, "I condone what she has done 100 percent. It’s her business to talk about it, not mine. It doesn’t change anything. I’m proud of who she is."

August 2010

Us confirmed that the twosome exchanged vows at a private residence in Malibu while “surrounded by their family and friends.”

September 2012

June 2014

Us Weekly has officially announced the arrival of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer's children. According to their representatives, "We can confirm that Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer recently welcomed their twins into the world. The babies were born a few weeks early, but are in good health and both Mom and Dad are overjoyed."

In June 2014, Paquin shared on Twitter, "I am proud to be a happily married bisexual mother. Marriage should be based on love, not gender."

The following month, Paquin discussed sexuality in an interview with HuffPost Live. She said, "Some individuals may hold onto their beliefs about the LGBT community until the end of their lives. That is their issue, not mine. There are also those who believe that monogamy and bisexuality cannot coexist. Once again, that is their issue, not mine."

February 2018

Paquin opened up about the couple’s desires to keep their kids out of the spotlight during an interview with Today.

"Everyone has their own way of deciding what’s best for their family. Some parts of our personal lives are enjoyable and endearing, while others are more private and require careful consideration, especially when it involves those who can't speak for themselves," she shared. "I have always valued my privacy. Although I used to be more anxious about it when I was younger, I have learned to relax a bit now. I prefer to keep certain aspects of my inner life to myself. This preference stems from my teenage years, when I felt overly self-conscious and hesitant to draw attention to myself, despite it being part of my job."

March 2019

Paquin couldn’t help but gush over her and Moyer’s connection, telling Us, “We’re each other’s best friends. We’re incredibly lucky that we found each other.”

August 2023

April 2024

Moyer celebrated his 13th wedding anniversary with his wife by sharing a heartfelt message on Instagram. He expressed his gratitude to those who remembered and sent messages, jokingly mentioning that they almost forgot about the special day themselves due to being busy.

Paquin and Moyer went out to celebrate their movie A Bit of Light. In the film, Paquin was the star, while Moyer took on the role of director.

In an interview with People, Paquin expressed her admiration for Moyer, calling him her favorite person to work with. She playfully mentioned that she wouldn't have agreed to work with Moyer if he wasn't talented behind the camera. "When it comes to work, I'm not one to get sentimental."
