The cast of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has been hinting at a potential third movie for years, but nothing has materialized so far.
In March 2018, Amber Tamblyn expressed, "It’s a very special bond that we have. We’re very proud to be friends and if we could do movies together for the rest of our lives I think we would."
The first movie in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, based on Ann Brashares' book series of the same name, debuted in 2005 with stars Amber Tamblyn, Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, and America Ferrera. A sequel followed in 2008.
When Brashares released a fifth book in the series in 2011, fans hoped for a return of the women. In 2014, rumors of a third movie began circulating after reports of another installment in development.
The third movie had still not been produced as of December 2023. However, fans were hopeful once again when the four actresses reunited to celebrate Ferrera’s performance in Barbie.

The cast of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has been hinting at the idea of a third movie for years, but as of now, nothing has materialized.
In March 2018, Amber Tamblyn expressed, "We have a very special bond and we're proud to be friends. If we could continue doing movies together for the rest of our lives, I think we would."

Something Is ‘In the Works’
In 2015, Ferrera made an appearance on The Meredith Vieira Show where she expressed optimism about another movie. "There's no official approval yet, but it's definitely in progress," she stated. "A script is currently in development."

Things Were ‘Moving Forward’ in 2016
"We are making progress. We are actively in the works. I can't pinpoint the exact timeline for when we'll be on set because this is my first time producing," Lively explained to Bustle in August 2015. "But the project is moving forward, and we're all thrilled about it."
"I don’t have all the details to share yet. I may have already said too much about my involvement in producing it, as everything is still in the works."

Later in the same year, Lively expressed optimism about the possibility of a third movie, stating that "there was a strong chance" of it being in the works. "On SiriusXM’s Pop Culture Spotlight, she joked about the fact that the four of us have a total of about 870 children, so it’s definitely a challenge," she said, referring to all the main Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actresses now that they are moms. “I know that it’s a shared hope for all four of us to be able to work together again.”
