The Jaw-Dropping Twist in Ahsoka's Latest Move Leaves Fans Begging for More

Ahsoka's series rectifies Boba Fett's infamous blunder, captivating audiences with a consistent and compelling storyline Discover how Boba Fett could have benefitted from Ahsoka's wisdom

Summary

The Ahsoka series successfully expands beyond its titular character, weaving in characters and storylines from previous Star Wars animated series.

The Book of Boba Fett fell short in connecting The Mandalorian seasons and disturbing the established story, in contrast to Ahsoka. Ahsoka effectively maintains a coherent storyline regardless of her involvement, enabling supporting characters to advance the main narrative, a valuable lesson The Book of Boba Fett could have taken notes from.

The Ahsoka series has successfully avoided the mistakes made by The Book of Boba Fett, showcasing the growth and improvement of Star Wars. From the beginning, it was clear that the latest Star Wars Disney+ TV show was intended to expand beyond its titular character, Ahsoka Tano, as she embarks on a quest for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger, borrowing directly from the animated Star Wars Rebels series. The inclusion of Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker in promotional material also indicated that Ahsoka's story would intertwine with characters and narratives from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

In contrast, The Book of Boba Fett attempted to accomplish something similar but fell short. Instead of effectively showcasing the shared spotlight between Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett and Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin, the latter character was introduced later, disrupting the established storyline. As a series meant to bridge the gap between The Mandalorian seasons 2 and 3, The Book of Boba Fett disappointed many viewers. This raises the question of how Ahsoka managed to succeed where The Book of Boba Fett did not.

Ahsoka’s Story Is Consistent, Unlike Boba Fett’s

The essence of Ahsoka's narrative persists even when she is not physically present, which distinguishes it from The Book of Boba Fett. This is exemplified in Ahsoka episode 6, where Ahsoka only makes a brief appearance in the opening scene. Remarkably, the episode avoids the same criticism as The Book of Boba Fett episodes 5 and 6, which faced backlash for excluding Boba. The strength of the Ahsoka storyline lies in its ability to thrive with or without her, thanks to the involvement of other notable characters like Sabine Wren, portrayed by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. Regrettably, Din Djarin could not achieve the same feat, as he had his own narrative to unravel before joining Boba's overarching journey.

How Could Boba Fett Have Learned From Ahsoka?

: The established presence of Sabine in Ahsoka ensured a seamless and organic shift in focus. In contrast, the absence of Din Djarin in The Book of Boba Fett episode 5 resulted in his sudden dominance feeling like an intrusive and hostile takeover. It seemed as if the show lacked confidence in its own protagonist and switched to another character abruptly, unsettling the existing narrative. On the other hand, Sabine's arc fits flawlessly into the overarching story of Ahsoka, flowing naturally and harmoniously.

Considering Ahsoka's significant achievements, The Book of Boba Fett had multiple options to align with Din's storyline. One possibility was to begin his narrative earlier in the season, intertwining his Darksaber injury and Mandalorian tribe exclusion with Boba's personal struggles beyond the bacta tank. Similar to the involvement of other notable characters in Ahsoka's adventures, Din could have still aided Mos Espa. However, all other plotlines, such as Grogu's training with Luke Skywalker and their eventual reunion, could have been reserved for The Mandalorian season 3. This approach would have maintained narrative consistency while emphasizing important aspects of both Boba's and Din's individual journeys.

The title of a series centered around a specific character does not necessarily mean it is exclusively about them. Ahsoka grasped this concept better than The Book of Boba Fett. Ahsoka successfully introduces various significant characters from Rebels into the live-action Star Wars universe, while still maintaining the larger storyline and Ahsoka's role within it. The Book of Boba Fett could have achieved a similar outcome if it had integrated Din's story more carefully with Boba's, just as Ahsoka does with her own story and the stories of the supporting characters.
