The decision to film in Atlanta was the only way to guarantee Glover's availability for the movie. "And Donald was thrilled," Harmon said.

Harmon remains concerned about the ongoing actors' strike and the difficulties in aligning the cast's schedules. He questions the likelihood of everyone's schedules aligning again once they can coordinate. Alison Brie and Danni Pudi had originally cleared their schedules for the Community movie, but that was before the strike.
