Speaking to SFX, Neil Gaiman, the creator, explained that Season 2 served as a bridge between the first and potential third seasons. He mentioned that there is a story waiting to be explored in Season 3 and it wouldn't be suitable to directly transition from Season 1 to that.

Additionally, Maggie Service, one of the actors, hinted to the Radio Times that there is more to come in the future. She expressed admiration for the way the ending was written, highlighting its realistic and fantastical elements, and raised the question of what will happen next.

Sources are also reporting that a renewed Season 3 would likely be the show’s final season.
