Koby's attack may not have shown the signs of Conqueror's Haki, but his remarkable utilization of Armament Haki exemplifies his future potential as a formidable Navy Admiral.
In the recent release of One Piece chapter 1088, a gripping chapter unfolded with the conclusion of the esteemed hero, Garp the Fist. On the Pirate Island, the fierce battle continued to unfold at an intense level, but amidst it all, the new generation of Marines stepped up and ultimately rescued the situation, thanks to their mentor, Garp.
Among them, Koby stood out, as he was the most highly regarded protégé of Garp. Fans witnessed his remarkable ability to unleash an immensely powerful punch that could cleave apart an arm the size of a mountain—a technique known as Honesty Impact. While it is certain that Koby utilized Haki to enhance this devastating attack, the lingering question in many fans' minds is whether the utilization of Conqueror's Haki Infusion was involved.
What Is Conqueror's Haki?
Conqueror's Haki, the rarest form of Haki in One Piece, surpasses all others. While Haki is typically divided into two categories - the Color of Observation and the Color of Armament - Conqueror's Haki stands alone. By harnessing the Color of Observation, individuals can detect the presence, gauge the power level, and even discern the emotions of those in their vicinity. This heightened perception grants them the ability to foresee events and track objects with unparalleled precision. Essentially, the Color of Observation bestows upon its user an extraordinary sixth sense.
The Color of Armament is the second type of Haki, enabling users to manifest their spirit as an armor for offensive and defensive purposes. Typically invisible, this armor is occasionally depicted in black in the anime and manga. Every individual in the One Piece world possesses these two types of Haki, but a select few have access to a third type known as the Color of the Supreme King, or Conqueror's Haki.
Conqueror's Haki grants users the ability to impose their willpower on others, rendering weaker opponents unconscious. The greater the power gap, the easier it is to knock them out. Those with Conqueror's Haki possess the qualities of a true leader, and in One Piece, only the strongest individuals can possess this formidable ability. The advanced form of the Color of the Supreme King allows users to infuse this power into their own bodies, making their attacks exceptionally fierce and capable of incapacitating even the strongest adversaries with a single strike. Only a select few individuals are capable of employing the advanced form of the Color of the Supreme King, Garp being among them.
Indicators Of Conqueror's Haki Infusion
In regards to the Color of the Supreme King, or Conqueror's Hockey, and its advanced usage, Oda implements several indicators. The initial and most straightforward indication is the presence of a striking black lightning streak flowing from the wielder of this power. For example, when Kaido employs the Color of the Supreme King in his club attacks, a massive black lightning streak can be witnessed emanating from his weapon. Likewise, when Luffy channels the Color of Supreme King into his punches, a similar lightning streak is observed radiating from his fists.
Furthermore, any body part infused with this technique also emits these black lightning streaks. This was evident in Big Mom's display of the same properties, as well as with Shanks and even Rayleigh on Amazon Lily. Another captivating indicator is that upon launching the attack, it unleashes an enormous expanse of black lightning that blankets the entire battlefield.
A common misconception among fans is that the use of Conqueror's Haki Infusion results in a no-touch effect. However, this notion is not entirely accurate. The no-touch effect can only occur when the Color of the Supreme King is combined with the advanced form of the Color of Armament. This combination allows the user to directly send Haki inside someone's body, causing internal damage.
The no-touch effect is only observed between two users of the Color of the Supreme King when both individuals are using these Haki types and attempting to harm each other's bodies from a distance by projecting Haki. This is why the two bodies do not physically come into contact, but instead an invisible collision is created. It is worth noting that the Color of the Supreme King can also be used by physically touching the opponent, as demonstrated by Luffy and Kaido on multiple occasions.
Does Koby Have Conqueror's Haki?
Determining whether Koby possesses Conqueror's Haki is not a complex task. Currently, Koby does not possess Conqueror's Haki as his use of Haki did not result in the creation of substantial lightning streaks. The small sparks observed are typically associated with the infusion of Armament Haki into weapons or fists, which has been witnessed in various instances where Conqueror's Haki was not employed. For example, Katakuri demonstrated similar sparks during his battle with Luffy, which were clearly a result of Armament Haki. Even Luffy displayed these sparks during his fight against Katakuri, confirming their association with Armament Haki. The presence of immense black lightning emanating from the body part infused with Conqueror's Haki is the definitive indication of its presence. Furthermore, Koby's attack failed to generate any black lightning in its vicinity, further reinforcing the absence of Conqueror's Haki in this particular attack.
Koby's attack is solely reliant on Armament Haki, which greatly amplifies the impressiveness of this accomplishment. It serves as undeniable proof that Koby's rigorous training has elevated his power level to such an extent that he can effortlessly shatter a colossal mountain-sized fist using his advanced Armament Haki. Additionally, this demonstration instills a sense of anticipation in fans, as they now realize that Koby's true potential and formidable strength will be fully unleashed in the future, once he attains mastery over all his abilities.
Koby's Future Potential
In the future, Koby is destined to rise to the rank of Admiral in the Navy. Achieving this position is his ultimate aspiration, and there is no doubt that he will attain it. However, in order to reach his goal, Koby must undergo rigorous training and cultivate his Observation and Armament Haki, both of which have already proven to be exceptionally powerful. By fully realizing his potential in these areas, he will become an unstoppable force. Furthermore, there is a strong possibility that Koby may unlock Conqueror's Haki in the future. Considering that he is Garp's student, and Garp possesses this extraordinary ability, it is entirely plausible that Oda will grant Koby the same power.
It is possible that Koby may eventually consume a Devil Fruit, as all Admirals introduced in the story so far have possessed Devil Fruit abilities. However, it is uncertain which Devil Fruit Oda will grant him if he decides to do so. Despite Koby's impressive progress, there is still ample room for further growth, and he remains incapable of holding his ground against formidable pirates. It should be noted that even though Koby shattered Pizzaro's arm, he was largely defenseless and unable to defeat him. If not for Helmeppo's intervention, Koby would have been thrown into the ocean. This incident underscores that Koby is still far from posing a real threat to powerful figures like the Yonko, including Luffy. Furthermore, Koby does not possess Conqueror's Haki and is far from being one of the strongest fighters in the series.
