In the final chapters of the Boruto manga, it became clear that Kawaki's actions were despicable when he convinced Eida to switch places with his adoptive brother. However, his most shocking act was trapping Naruto and Hinata in a separate dimension, which was even more devastating than forcing Boruto to leave the Hidden Leaf Village.
Towards the conclusion of the previous manga, Kawaki made the decision to confront his adoptive brother in order to protect the Seventh Hokage. Aware that Naruto would intervene and prevent him from carrying out his plan, Kawaki ultimately transported Naruto and Hinata to a timeless dimension.

Naruto and Hinata will never know Boruto's struggles (and it's all because of Kawaki)

Upon the release of the Boruto manga, it began with an intense confrontation between the main character and his adoptive sibling, Kawaki. Within this particular scene, Kawaki reveals his intentions to send his brother to the very same location to which he had banished the Seventh Hokage.
At that moment, fans were left bewildered and under the impression that Naruto had met his demise. Nonetheless, towards the conclusion of the initial manga series, it became clear that Kawaki had ensnared Naruto and Hinata within a dimension untouched by time. This revelation brought immense relief to the fans, as they were delighted to discover that their cherished characters were still alive.

Looking from a different perspective, fans realize the devastating impact of Kawaki's actions. The manga's opening scene hints that Naruto and Hinata are trapped in another dimension until the fight between Kawaki and Boruto. Since the protagonist is 16 years old in that scene, it implies that Naruto and Hinata will be trapped for four years in this dimension.
Consequently, Kawaki has robbed Naruto and Hinata of the opportunity to witness their children's growth. The last time they saw their son, he was an adolescent boy; however, the next time they see him, he will be reaching the end of his teenage years. The situation is even more drastic for Himawari, who had just entered the academy before becoming a young teenager.
As seen in the manga (Image via Shueisha), Himawari Uzumaki's portrayal shows that what Kawaki did to them may be considered even more malicious than his attempt to kill his adoptive brother, knowing that his plan ultimately failed.
That being said, it is important to acknowledge that Kawaki's actions effectively prevented Naruto and Hinata from witnessing their son's hardship. From the moment they were trapped, everything seemed to work against the main character. Initially, he lost his eye, and then his former allies, with the exception of Sarada, Sumire, and Sasuke, turned against him. This forced him to flee the village and leave his sister, Himawari, behind.
Furthermore, fans are still awaiting confirmation on Sasuke's fate, leaving open the potential for Boruto to have lost his mentor as well.
Editor's P/S
As a long-time fan of the Naruto series, I was shocked and devastated by Kawaki's actions in the Boruto manga. I couldn't believe that he would go so far as to trap Naruto and Hinata in a separate dimension, effectively robbing them of the chance to watch their children grow up.
It's clear that Kawaki's actions have had a profound impact on the entire Uzumaki family. Naruto and Hinata have been robbed of the chance to see their son grow up, and Boruto has been forced to face the world without his parents by his side. I can only hope that, in the end, Kawaki will find a way to make things right and that the Uzumaki family will be able to reunite and heal from the trauma they have experienced.
