The Exorcist cosplay brings the terrifying possessed character, Regan MacNeil, to life in a highly effective manner. Portrayed by Linda Blair, Regan first appeared in the iconic 1973 horror classic The Exorcist, based on William Peter Blatty's 1971 novel of the same name. The film centers around Chris MacNeil, a famous actress and Regan's mother (played by Ellen Burstyn), who desperately seeks remedies to save her daughter as she displays signs of demonic possession. Makeup artist and cosplayer Brooke Ellis shared a video on Instagram, showcasing her transformation into the possessed Regan from The Exorcist. Take a look below.

The video clip features Brooke portraying a fully possessed Regan, complete with tousled hair, a fractured complexion, colored contacts, and a nightgown stained with pea soup. In the clip, Ellis imitates the dialogue of the scene where Father Karras (played by Jason Miller) confronts the demonically afflicted Regan.

How Regan's Possession Plays Out In The Exorcist

This horrifying cosplay moment captures just a fraction of Regan's actual possession, which slowly unfolds throughout the film. The initial clues of something amiss were revealed when Chris heard unexplained sounds in the attic, coinciding with Regan complaining about her bed shaking. It is later implied that the demon exploited the opportunity presented by Regan playing with a Ouija board while Chris was occupied shooting a movie on the Georgetown campus.

The entity in The Exorcist is commonly mistaken to be The Devil, but it is actually named Pazuzu, as confirmed in the original novel and its sequel, Exorcist II: The Heretic. Pazuzu's possession of Regan initially manifested in behavioral issues, such as urinating on the carpet during a dinner party. However, her behavior escalated to violence, potentially leading to the murder of the director Burke Dennings, and her skin developed strange lesions. Various doctors failed to find a solution for her condition.

As unexplainable events continued to occur around Regan, Chris finally approached Father Karras to seek an exorcism. Father Karras, along with Father Merrin, conducted a lengthy exorcism on Regan, ultimately resulting in both of their deaths. As shown in the chosen video clip, Pazuzu gives a warning, and the ending of The Exorcist depicts Karras and Pazuzu coming closer together. The only way to rid Regan of the demon was for Karras to invite it into his own body and sacrifice his own life.
