The Fire Hunter season 2 anime series has unveiled its debut window for 2024, as well as introducing two new cast members. It was also announced that all 16 lead cast members will be returning to reprise their roles for the upcoming season. The second season of The Fire Hunter serves as the continuation of the TV anime adaptation based on the original novel series of the same name by Reiko Hinata and Akihiro Yamada. The first season premiered in Japan in January 2023, with simultaneous international streaming provided by Crunchyroll.
Hinata’s literary journey began in December 2018 when the first book of the series was released. The much-anticipated conclusion arrived in September 2020 with the publication of the fourth and final book. To the delight of fans, a side-story volume followed suit in December 2021. As The Fire Hunter season 2 gears up, it will continue to draw inspiration from the four mainline books. After covering the main material, the series is expected to explore the side-story as well.

To add to the excitement, two new talented cast members, Manaka Iwami and M.A.O, will be joining the show. Iwami, known for her captivating performance as Toru Honda in Fruits Basket, will be playing the character Yururuho/Sennen Susei. Meanwhile, M.A.O, recognized for her role as Iris in Fire Force, will take on the role of Ruri Matsuri. Director Junji Nishimura continues to helm the anime series at Signal.MD, while Mamoru Oshii takes on the role of overseeing the project and writing the scripts. Adapting Yamada's original character designs for animation is credited to Takuya Saito. Furthermore, the series scripts are entrusted to Kenji Kawai, with Kazcuhika Kise, Takuya Saito, and Toshihisa Kaiya serving as Chief Animation Directors.
The series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world following the chaotic aftermath of the Last War. This world is now overrun by flameling creatures and other dangerous beasts, with scattered communities of humans seeking refuge within protected areas. As a result of a weapon used during the war, humans now have the ability to spontaneously ignite into flames even upon coming near a small fire source.
