The open beta for The Finals, the free-to-play shooter developed by Embark Studios, will commence on October 26. This will mark the game's first beta test that supports cross-platform play and cross-progression between current-gen consoles and PC.

During the beta, players will have the opportunity to experience the fast-paced shooter created by former Battlefield developers for just over a week, with the beta concluding on November 5. The open beta will introduce new content, including the Skyway Stadium map and a new game mode called Bank-It. Bank-It involves four teams of three players competing in a "casual-friendly, combat-focused mode," as described by Embark. Additional game modes include ranked and unranked Tournament, Quick Cash for casual play, and a practice range for testing out weapons and gadgets.

A free, 16-tier Battle Pass will be available for players to progress through, with rewards earned during the beta carrying over to the game's full launch. During the beta, players will have access to a total of 20 weapons, 26 gadgets, and nine unique abilities to experiment with.

As part of Xbox's recent Partner Preview livestream, a new trailer for the game and its beta announcement were released. The trailer showcases The Finals' game-show aesthetic and its impressive environmental destruction. In The Finals, teams of players compete in fast-paced virtual arenas that are modeled after real locations, but with gravity-defying gadgets and over-the-top weaponry. When opponents are defeated, they burst into piles of coins, while announcers provide colorful commentary throughout the intense battles as teams strive to bank their big score.

Embark aims to enhance the previous beta tests by conducting rigorous stress tests on the game's servers and infrastructure. Additionally, the company seeks feedback on the console performance of The Finals, particularly when played with a controller. While there is no confirmed release date for The Finals, it is planned to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
