Home is truly the best place to be during the holiday season! The Family Stone took a refreshing approach to the well-known Christmas movie theme and has proven to be a hidden gem.
This film, released in December 2005, features Sarah Jessica Parker as a tightly wound businesswoman who embraces the Christmas spirit with her boyfriend's quirky family. Dermot Mulroney takes on the role of her partner, who has plans to propose, while Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser, and Tyrone Giordano bring the Stone family to life.
In December 2021, Wilson disclosed how the cast formed a close bond before shooting to create a believable family dynamic.
"We actually had rehearsals, which is somewhat uncommon nowadays. We also collaborated on sign language training together. I remember doing it with Craig T., those guys," the Legally Blonde actor shared exclusively with We. The training was essential for communicating with Giordano's character, who was deaf. "As a result, we ended up spending more time together and enjoyed a few lovely dinners. It made a significant difference."
Wilson expressed his admiration for his fellow cast members, particularly Diane, Sarah Jessica, and Rachel. He fondly remembered the excitement and nervousness of meeting new people during dinner outings. Despite initial discomfort, he couldn't help but feel eager to work with such a talented group. ‘The Family Stone’ Cast: Where Are They Now?
There’s no place like home for the holidays! The Family Stone put a new spin on a popular Christmas movie trope and proved to be an underrated gem.
Released in December 2005, the film features Sarah Jessica Parker as a rigid businesswoman who embraces the holiday season with her boyfriend's quirky family. Dermot Mulroney portrays her partner, who intends to propose, with Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Rachel McAdams, Luke Wilson, Elizabeth Reaser, and Tyrone Giordano playing the roles of the Stones.
In December 2021, Wilson shared insights on how the cast formed a genuine familial connection before commencing filming.
"We had rehearsals, which is uncommon in today's world. We also attended sign language training together to communicate with Giordano's character, who was deaf," said the Legally Blonde star exclusively to We. "We ended up spending more time together and enjoying nice dinners, which was very helpful."
Wilson expressed his admiration for his castmates, particularly Diane. "In my mind, Sarah Jessica is an icon of fashion and humor from Sex and the City, and Diane is the original icon of fashion and humor," he reminisced. "Rachel McAdams was also great. I remember being excited as we went to dinner alone, meeting all these people. Some were familiar, but most were strangers, so there was a slight discomfort at first. However, I left feeling like, 'These people are amazing! I can't wait to collaborate with them.'"
