According to George, during an interview with CBS in November 2020, marriage was never a topic of discussion while they were dating. He spontaneously proposed to Amal, prompting her hesitation before ultimately saying yes. George humorously recalls being on one knee for approximately 20 minutes, jokingly expressing concerns about throwing out his hip. The couple later shared this entertaining anecdote with Amal's parents, who initially misunderstood George's comment about his hip, leading them to believe there was a physical issue.
The couple's initial encounter took place in Lake Como, Italy, in 2013. Following this, they had their inaugural date in London later that same year. The actor proposed, leading to their marriage in a stunning celebration at the Aman Canal Grande Hotel in Venice, Italy, in September 2014.

George Clooney, a perpetual bachelor, eventually found his ideal partner in the form of Amal Clooney, an impressive and accomplished lawyer specializing in human rights. However, it took some time for Amal to fully embrace the authenticity of their relationship.
"We never discussed marriage during our dating phase, so when I randomly asked her, it took her a while to say yes," George revealed to CBS in November 2020. "I was kneeling for such a long time, around 20 minutes. Eventually, I jokingly said, 'I'm going to throw my hip out.' When we shared this story with her parents, they thought there was something wrong with my hip."
Their paths initially crossed in Lake Como, Italy, in 2013, and their first official date took place in London later that same year. Just five months after George proposed, the couple tied the knot in a spectacular wedding ceremony held at the Aman Canal Grande Hotel in Venice, Italy, in September 2014.
The couple had not initially intended to have children, but in February 2017 it was confirmed that they were going to become parents. In June of the same year, they joyfully welcomed their twins, Alexander and Ella.
