Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who stars in The Bear, sheds light on the intense disagreement between Carmy and Richie during the season 2 finale. The popular Hulu series premiered its second season on June 22, following the journey of Carmy, a talented chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to run his late brother's Italian beef sandwich shop. While Carmy enjoys a stable relationship with Claire throughout most of season 2, tensions escalate during the grand opening of the newly renovated restaurant. The season 2 finale captures a heated argument between Carmy and Richie, which takes place while Carmy is accidentally locked inside the walk-in fridge. Moss-Bachrach discussed the incident and revealed that Carmy "crossed a line" during this intense altercation in a recent Rolling Stone interview.
The fight between Carmy and Claire is ultimately a result of the way Carmy treats her. Richie, despite his flaws, is a loyal and caring person who deeply values others and has a moral compass. However, Carmy's treatment of Claire seems to disregard this love and respect. It's as if she has crossed a line and violated a traditional code of morals that deeply upsets Richie, causing him to become extremely angry. He confronts Carmy, demanding to know what she did and expressing his frustration with her actions. The scene was filmed in various versions, but I haven't had the chance to see it yet, so I'm unsure of how it ultimately played out on screen. In one version, Richie repeatedly expressed his love for Carmy.
