The highly anticipated series is set to debut in 2024 and will be produced and animated by Studio CloverWorks. Yuta Yamazaki, the director of the series, has teamed up with Yoriko Tomita (My Dress-Up Darling) to spearhead the series' composition and script. The talented Yasushi Nishiya is responsible for bringing the character designs to life.
Newcomer Asaki Yuikawa has been cast as the voice of protagonist Hojo Tokiyuki, while Yuichi Nakamura will be voicing Suwa Yorishige. Nakamura is renowned for his roles as Six Eyes User Gojo Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen and Wing Hero Hawks in My Hero Academia.
The Elusive Samurai anime features additional cast members such as Aoi Yuuki (Kazama Genba), Hinaki Yano (Shizuku), Kikunosuke Toya (Fubuki), Mari Hino (Kojiro), and Sayumi Suzushiro (Ayako).
Authored and illustrated by Yusei Matsui, The Elusive Samurai debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in early 2021. The series is currently ongoing and has amassed a total of 137 chapters across 13 volumes.

Sales figures for the 13th volume were revealed upon the introduction of new characters in the series. It garnered 2,712 copies sold, bringing the total to 45,454 copies sold for the month. In summary, the manga did not experience a decline in sales, which is considered a positive outcome.
The Elusive Samurai plot
Taking place during the Kamakura and Muromachi periods, the story follows Hojo Tokiyuki as he escapes the betrayal and massacre of his family by Ashikaga Takaujia. He is joined by Suwa Yorishige, a loyal ally of the Hojo clan and the ruler of Suwa Province, along with other survivors.
He claims to possess special powers and predicts that Tokiyuki will eventually become the ruler of Japan. Faced with the current situation, the best course of action was to flee. Accompanied by Yorishige and a small group of loyal supporters, the young lord is determined to seek revenge and reclaim his former glory.
