The Epic Showdown: Hades 2 and the Unleashing of the Mighty Olympians!

Hades 2: Expanding the Epic Saga with Forgotten Olympians, Unveiling Zagreus and Melinoe's Divine Bonds, and Elevating Boons to New Heights

Hades took the world by storm upon its release in September 2020, captivating players with its dynamic combat options and the thrilling narratives woven by the Chthonic and Olympian gods. While the game's sequel, Hades 2, presents an opportunity to further enrich the beloved relationships established in its predecessor, one crucial step Supergiant Games should take is incorporating the major Olympians that were left out of the original story.

The first installment of Hades featured nine Olympian gods: Zeus, Poseidon, Athena, Artemis, Aphrodite, Ares, Dionysus, Hermes, and Demeter. However, it omitted four significant deities: Apollo, Hera, Hephaestus, and Hestia. To ensure inclusivity and encompass all fans' favorite Olympians in the Hades 2 discourse, it is essential to incorporate a total of thirteen gods and goddesses, offering a diverse and comprehensive experience.

Zagreus and Melinoe's Olympian Connections

In Hades 2, players will take on the roles of Melinoe, the Princess of the Underworld and sister to Zagreus. The central antagonist is Chronos, the Titan of Time, who has escaped his prison and seeks revenge on Olympus. The strong emphasis on familial relationships from the first game continues in Hades 2, as Melinoe and Chronos are connected to many existing characters. These intriguing relationships serve as a compelling reason for the missing Olympian Gods and Goddesses to appear in the sequel. For instance, Hera, Zeus's wife, is often revealed to be the true, hidden mother of Melinoe. This revelation alone justifies the addition of Hestia, the goddess of family and home, to help untangle the complex family affairs.

In the first game, players occasionally stumbled upon one of Daedalus' hammers, which allowed them to enhance their weapons. However, Daedalus is merely a human. In Hades 2, with the gods under attack, Hephaestus, the actual Greek god of blacksmithing, has no reason not to make an appearance. Even if his mechanics resemble Daedalus' hammer, his inclusion would introduce a fresh progression system, provide another captivating presence, and prepare players for the boss battles in Hades 2. Additionally, Apollo, the god of light and prophecy (already confirmed for Hades 2), could offer similar variations to Nyx's Mirror of Night and the Fated List of Minor Prophecies, adding further dynamism to the gameplay.

Boons Can Level Up in Hades 2

The forgotten gods should be remembered as they can offer intriguing powers to Melinoe. With the introduction of new gods in Hades 2, there will be a variety of new boons to explore. Hephaestus, being the god of the forge, is naturally associated with fire and volcanoes, allowing him to provide abilities related to lava-based crowd control or ongoing damage. Apollo, who is known as the god of healing, medicine, and plague, can offer abilities that involve draining life from enemies.

In Hades 2, players can undoubtedly expect thrilling new equipment and abilities to enhance their gaming experience, regardless of whether these additions are connected to the missing Olympic Gods. However, considering the emphasis on family and relationship dynamics that Hades 2 is expected to maintain from the original game, it is imperative that these four family members - Hera, Hestia, Apollo, and Hephaestus - be included in the family reunion that awaits in Hades 2.

Hades 2 is in development.
