A skilled Pokemon enthusiast with artistic talent has merged Ekans and Zubat into a frightful hybrid creation. Every generation of Pokemon has its own dedicated fans, but Generation 1 still remains a popular subject of fan art. The launch of Pokemon Red and Blue in 1996 sparked a wave of remarkable fan-made artwork, which has endured over time. Numerous artists have taken to crafting Pokemon fusion art, and now one fan has taken on the challenge of blending Ekans and Zubat together.
Reddit user Bluvinity recently shared their artwork of a fusion between Ekans and Zubat. In this fusion, the creature takes on the elongated body of Ekans and ditches its original purple and yellow colors in favor of the vibrant blue and pink hues of Zubat. Despite the change in appearance, the fusion retains the iconic head of Zubat, complete with pointy ears and at least one sharp tooth. Interestingly, Bluvinity's art manages to incorporate certain details from Ekans, such as the distinct scales typically found on the snake Pokemon, as well as the rattled tail.
The fusion, known as Zekans, does not appear to possess Zubat's Flying typing, as it lacks wings and is depicted wrapped around a tree much like a regular Ekans would. If this fusion were to exist as a real Pokemon in the anime or games, it is possible that the Zubat ears would play a role in its hunting abilities and overall maneuverability, as it possesses larger ears but no eyes. It's worth noting that neither Ekans nor Zubat are currently featured in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Pokedex.
Due to the immense popularity of Pokemon fusion art, many fans eagerly anticipate the inclusion of fusion as an official mechanic in Pokemon games. While Ekans and Zubat are currently absent from the Gen 9 Pokedex, there is a possibility that they may be introduced in upcoming DLC or events for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
