San Francisco's top detective, Adrian Monk (portrayed by Tony Shalhoub), is making a comeback in the highly anticipated film, "Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie".
Announced by Peacock in March, the movie will see Shalhoub reprise his critically acclaimed role as Monk, the beloved character from USA Network's hit series. This time, Monk will be delving into a new and personal case. Shalhoub brilliantly portrayed the obsessive-compulsive detective on Monk for seven seasons, from 2002 to 2009.
"It's Monk in the present day, after being away from him for a long time, specifically 13 years and now going on 14," Shalhoub hinted in a playful manner to Entertainment Weekly in March. "This is the era post-COVID. Due to COVID, Monk has faced setbacks and is now feeling its effects. He has aged and is no longer able to pursue cases vigorously on the streets and engage in similar activities. Hopefully, (laughs). We will need to acknowledge Monk's advanced age in our writing."
Tony Shalhoub is reprising his role as Adrian Monk in the upcoming project. Teaming up with Melora Hardin, who portrays Trudy, Shalhoub expressed his enthusiasm in revisiting the character. Reflecting on the finality of the series, he is excited to explore where the characters have evolved in the intervening years.
